That's life, that's cars and we buy these know they are goign to depreciate, would just prefer doing a better deal with someone privately.

Birds still have a yellow one for sale.
Thinking about it could be worth trying Jason at birds as if they have had someone who wanted a slightly older car (cheaper) (hope you don't think I'm trying to say mine was better than yours) and you have got EDC Mine hadn't they might give that little bit more if they knew they could move it on quickly.

Thanks for your thoughts, I'll give him a call tomorrow, want to get my Caterham order in soon.

I reckon £500 a month depreciation is rapid enough but the new year will see some pretty heavy falls for slow moving metal, demand is dwindling by the day for anything expensive with more economic doom and gloom ready to hit the headlines.

335D dropped £700 last month in the guide and ive seen M3's drop £1200 in a month before.
If you drive any car of value sense tells you it will drop more in comparison to cheaper cars
For example 320D M-sport coupes will on average lose £300 per month in the guide
Ive seen X5's and Range Rover Sports lose £1500 some months
Last month i checked the figures on a year old M6 costing £85k today you'll be lucky to see £40k in the trade for it

Sign of the times and high end stuff will always take a hit
M3's are out of favour at the minute saying that id sell my 335d and have another nearly did last month dealer offered me £23k for my 335d against a fully loaded 2011 M3 at £45k was a good deal i thought just could not justify handing out so much money knowing how much you can lose on them
But i still think for the money they a fantastic cars

Good luck selling yours i think its well priced now

Sean

Totally agree all the cars we are talking about are great and apologies for the doom and gloom scenarios but the lack of customers is dropping prices like crazy. Becomes a decider between selling at a poor price or waiting a few months while suffering depreciation or just deciding to keep a good car that you don't want to give away. They wont increase any in value but you keep a great car for a while longer.

Very true, if my work circumstances had not changed then I would probably keep hold of it but driving 4 miles each way to a train station and then leaving it outdoors in the station car park feels wrong.

The engine will only begin to warm up as I get there

Totally agree about that type of use being unsuitable for an M3 and leaving it in a car park all day would kill me.
Why not hold onto it for the weekends and buy a cheap runaround for the station. I bought a 2003 Fiesta a few weeks ago primarily to be able to cope with the bad weather if it comes. Car is great, mechanically perfect, one or two minor marks on the body but all for a couple of grand. Looks really decent too and much cheaper than buying another newer car for me and suffering depreciation. This way my 335d stays in the garage but is always there for me when I want to drive it.

I don't feel the M3 is 'special' enough for just a weekend car, it's such a great allrounder but my weekend jaunts wil need to be hit with an adrenalin rush so I'm buying a Caterham.

I just bought a 2010 M3 w/24k on the clock with a similar spec to yours(minus EDC and L7) from a BMW dealer for £35,800. It also came with the balance of the five year maintenance plan and a BMW Trackstar already installed.

The only reason I mention it is that for a non-AUC people are going to want to pay less, and I know better than anyone that the harsh reality of car value has very little to do with how much you spend on it, how you keep it and any other provenance it may have.

However, hope you get a good offer soon, all the best.

It still has a year left on the BMW warranty so not being an AUC wont put many off. If it was out of warranty, maybe.

No EDC would be more of a deal breaker for me - i'm currently looking for an E90 M3 and my only "must haves" are EDC, DAB and USB. The rest are nice but wouldnt be deal breakers.

Hopefully a deal will be done on Friday if the date goes well
