I reguarly use interparcel.com and parcelmonkey.com

Stick your postcodes in, enter your box weight and dimensions and pick which service & courier you'd like. Simple as that.

There's the service where you drop it off at a local shop (forget the name but collect+ rings a bell) which works out pretty good too. Depends on size/weight etc.

But if you use parcelmonkey or interparcel - it should give you that option. If not, go direct and try.

I used interparcel to arrange posting a 20" Y 149 alloy wheel with tyre to my buyer. Had no problems, (used UPS's service).

I've used Parcelmonkey often for sending wheels. Just like interparcel but imo cheaper.

I never have a problem with UPS either, iirc it's classed in the options as 'Interparcel Economy' or the like. I try and avoid using Yodel, Hermes seem ok but takes longer.
If its only the odd item then spend a couple of quid more and use UPS.
