Well, I got some wood-look trim pieces and a ≈0,7mm thick dyed sheep hide.

I used a dremel tool to sand down the plastic to make room for the thicker material on top (around the edges and on the backside).

Then I used simple spray glue for the entire piece and lay down the hide.

After trimming the edges of the leather and test fitting i lifted some edges and trimmed away more material with the dremel.

Finally, I lifted and glued down all edges with Loctite 401 super glue.

The painted trim is not to everybody's taste, but I had to come up with a way to introduce some colour and lighten up the cabin. The Ultra Suede headliner does not reflect much light (it's much darker than the picture would suggest).
