Rolling in sales tax in NY

I posted this same question on bimmerfest but not too many people replied and i am still confused as to how the monthly payment is calculated with sales tax rolled in. Someone suggested that I do the calculations based on the sales tax paid upfront, then with the total amount of tax calculated, add it to the cap cost and do the math again. I tried it but it doesn't work.

In NY, we pay tax on the leased amount not the entire cost of the vehicle.

I would do the math without the sales tax included, calculate the tax based on the aggregate lease payments and plug the tax back in later. I paid the sales tax up front.
