Hi fsugatorbait

that sounds excellent so far, you can also check for pending faults with a scan tool.

also, check for the catalyst efficiency test. it might take some time, but it should pass.

thanks again for testing

Here's a datalog at idle showing the pre and post cat O2 readings.

According to the AP, I've got 3 pending codes: P2F8B, P2D15, P2CED. I'm having trouble finding info on these if anyone can lend a hand.

So the install was pretty simple? I should be receiving my unit soon hopefully.

P2F8B: Ignition, voltage supply: Line disconnection or short circuit to earth

P2D15: O2 Sensor Delayed Response - Rich to Lean (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

P2CED: Oxygen sensor after catalytic converter, dynamics, from rich to lean: Slow response

Thank you. That would explain the datalog that's all over the place.

Hi everyone

fsugatorbait, the capture looks good, the io2 is working, I cannot see voltage levels, but I can tell it's working.

when were the codes cleared last? as these faults may have been there for some time?

you could clear them, and see if they come back, or leave them and see if any of them mature to a current code.

I will look into these o2 faults, to see if they could be triggered by the io2

thanks

Car was last flashed about 2 weeks ago so they would have been cleared then. I'm curious why we're seeing such fluctuation in the secondary o2 sensor voltage?

Hi fsugatobait

it has been programmed to provide activity, this satisfies the computer when checking the o2 response.(p0138, etc etc.)

at higher engine speeds, you will notice it smooths out, but is still active.

what is your time frame in that capture? it looks fairly long, i"m guessing around 30-60 seconds?

I am still collecting data on this fault code, thank you cure12 very good info here.

hi everyone

fsugatobait, can you update.

miles driven, total with the io2 installed

codes, pending and/or current.

freeze frame data for the fault codes would be great if you can provide such data.

we are working on these faults, they are BMW specific. and may have been caused by the install process and/or the io2 itself.

thanks again

Capture is about 20 seconds or so. Car had been run for about 40 min before taking the log. I've got about 125 miles on it so far and no CEL.

Unfortunately I cannot do it personally, but I'll be putting a few hundred miles on the car this weekend and will drop by my mechanics shop early next week to check for readiness if the CEL stays off.

I have received my unit, would you mind giving me the rundown on the install?

Did it end up being a Bosch sensor? Where is it located?

Okay i know this is semi old post but this is awesome fix for catless downpipes. I used it on mine and just passed. plus not throwing any codes. its a Mini Catylatic converter that plugs into your O2 sensor location and then your o2 goes into it. no more errros and its cheap.

Did it just get rid of your CEL or do you actually pass all readiness checks with this?

You will pass all rediness checks. Because its a mini cat. your computer is looking for a difference between the first o2 sensor and second one. so if you have the n54 motor you buy two and plug them in. Another thing i recommend is from VRSF for 69 dollars and plugs into the ecu http://www.vr-speed.com/vrsf-catless...-bmw-335i.html this has worked on my buddies car. Which ever way you want to go. The electronic DP fix is also what Terry use to sell.(BMS) so his instructions for install will work. Doesnt matter if you have JB4 or not. Although if you have JB4 recommend running in valet mode for about 100 miles first. or if you have a OBd reader plug it in and drive until it shows ready. Thats what i did for mine and only had to drive like 30 miles.

I also want to say that I dont get the sniff test done for inspection in my state. So i cant vogue for that portion. But then again if they are doing sniff test i guess it wont matter if you go electronic or with mini cats it will just be what it is.

The n54 has a proven fix. This is the n55 section though. We have no proven fix as of yet.
