HDR first attempt: Silver E90 @ sunset.
I haven't really been on the HDR wagon but went and snapped a picture today as it looked like the sunset was going to be good and I just washed the car. First time using Photomatix, looks like a pretty powerful and fun program. Here's my first one (and after 11 months of ownership, my first "photoshoot" too):
Before HDR (middle bracket): HDR:

Very nice pics.
But I just see much HDR "effect" on the HDR pics.

not bad... there isnt too much of a difference really with the HDR Conversion. You can really make some HUGE changes with HDR pics if you process them a lot.

proper HDR pics shouldn't look like they have an "effect". 99% of the "HDR" pics people post up are horrible. This one is well done... although the lighting was fine to begin with so really doing an HDR version wasn't needed at all.

most editing I see on here for HDR is way over the top and looks like crap. HDR is to have more of the photo properly exposed.

Thanks for the words and advice. I really wasn't going for over-the-top HDR pics. Many of the ones that I've seen (not saying just here, in lots of places) are just pushed to the point where the colors are so saturated that the dynamic range is artificially added IMO.
I actually kinda like the original one a lot, and the HDR just helped bring out some colors that I think were not there unless I used a few exposures to capture it all. I took a lot of other pics and even bracketed some for HDR, but when I was here at the computer I realized it was well within that 5-7ish stops of dynamic range and HDR wouldn't have done any good. Nick, we can take some pics of your car when we have a chance.

Yeah, it's a parking garage for the BART station that opened recently. First time in there, but thought it'd be a good time to get on the roof to take some pics if the sunset turned out nice.

always thought that profile of E90 is just beautiful and this shot sums it up. Car looks compact, but proportional and those lines are just superb. Great photo, worthy of a little poster.

Looks good so far, you can still do a bit more processing.
Try to draken the area around the car or the car itself, that will create a nice silhouette look. Also bring out the colors of the clouds more.
