"Check Control" -- WTF is it and how do I use it to my advantage?

So I got my car about a month ago, and understand that the check control feature is there to alert you of any problems (i.e. bulb out, low gas etc.)

But here is my problem.

I hardwired my Valentine V1 to the fuse box, using the correct fuses and "add-a-fuse', but now the Check Control shows me what I believe to be a bulb out warning.

Unlike my past cars, it seems as though all the check control wants to do is show me a picture, without telling me a) what the actual problem is in words and b) which bulb is out (in this case)

Can anyone please help me?
