Thud noise after Brake Rotor/pad change.

Help me diagnose brake noise.

Changed out the rotors and pads on the E90 335i, flushed with new brake fluid. If I slam on the brakes, car responds as it should. If I come to a stop smoothly car responds as it should. If I apply pressure to make a quick stop, I get a thud thud noise, that is rotational. (The noise matches the wheel speed) almost as if a Rotor is warped. Noise sounds like it is from the driver front wheel.

Rotor is brand new Brembo, pads are Bosch.

I've spent hours trying to figure out the issue. Thought I may have done something wrong. Put the old rotor on, issue went away. So I ordered a replacement rotor, thinking the new rotor was warped. They sent another "Brembo" rotor. Installed it, noise went away. But once the brakes get hot, the noise returns.

They are fake Brembos, I was advised to confirm they were real. Which I was not aware was even a business to make knock off blanks.

Your pad is moving around in the caliper... Happens with some pads.

You can try using discquiet paste to make them stick or just go back to using OEM/Textar pads.

You must not have read my previous post. The rotors I bought are fake.

I switched back to the original rotor and the noise went away, they're fake Brembo rotors causing the issue.

Some logical reasoning goes a long way.

Think of this way, how would a one piece solid chunk of metal cause any noise... Unless your rotor is actually becoming loose on the hub... Then you have a much bigger problem.

Why does it not do it with the original rotor, if that's the issue?

I have no outer marking at all on the rotor edge. Just on the top hat, the side the wheel bolts to. Supply house is stating that they're genuine. The thickness of each rotor side is different as well.

Did Brembo stop stamping the outer edge?

Brake pad shifting in the caliper happens all the time. Why would the thickness of brand new rotors be different? Makes no sense.

Well, if there are hard and soft spots on the rotor, not homogeneous metal IOW, your problem my occur and/or there may be dissimilar expansion coefficients in parts of the swept area. But sound will also occur if pads are clunkin' around.

That said, sounds like rotors are a prob, and no they should NOT be diff thickness. Assuming brakes bedded in, any pulse?
