I've got 330d auto on 2006 plate with 224500 on the clock with full service history..
Today I went down sat stead airport which is approx 33 miles trip from where I live.. I did constantly 70 MPh.. I reset the trip comp so return trip of approx 70 miles showed me 42mpg on the computer is that good? What sort of MPG are you guys getting on your 330d's... Thanks |

I get the same on my 330d auto 57 plate. Its less than the book figure which is weird becaus3 every bmw I'v3 ever owned (a lot!) has been spot on the book figure. However I have ruled out any faults or vacuum leaks so have deicded to live with it

My 330d LCI Auto which is remapped is showing bang on 48mpg over the last 4K on Fuelly.
I've just had a service and added a friction modifier to the oil which seems to have made a positive impact as the last tank was 52mpg. |

You also have the M57 engine, what mpg are you expecting? Are you basing your 'book' figure on a particular driving style/speed? Most users never achieve more than the combined cycle as an average, even in reasonably light driving conditions. Even worse with later models, as the manufacturers have 'learned' to get the best from the NEDC test regime.

I’ve got a pre lci 330d which has been remapped.
On motorway runs I get 40-45mpg if taking it easy. I tend to average 25-28mpg in town though as I tend to floor it pretty much everywhere lol |

I had 56mpg on a 400mile round trip to Kent an back last summer...right after i sorted out my blocked DPF-this was the best i ever had. Around town my absolute lowest has been 32mpg but is usually 36-38mpg. 45-48mpg is easy to get on a long cruise. Mine is remapped manual with DPF still in place, 130k miles

In my opinion, I think that is a great figure and indicates the car is running fine especially with the mileage. I am currently sat at 25mpg but that is based purely around town and a bit heavy footed.

do you use cruise control or your foot? oddly i find cruise better for these cars on a long motorway drive as your not tempted to just give it a bit more or a quick squirt to overtake ect.
i think with these 3.0's in the 40's somewhere is about right on a run sitting at a reasonable speed, IE 70-80, lower the better. around town it does suffer as its easy to give it more throttle then you need (if thats a thing lol) i just did 1100 to france and back and for 44mpg if i recall. but my average speed was 53mph and most of that was cruise control at the speed limit so 70 in the uk and 80 in france, would have been more but spent about 3hrs in crawling traffic on the trip. i used to commute to portsmouth from cornwall and would get 40 if wasn't booting it but thats single and dual carriage way so not as good. i'm interested to do a long run now i've had it remapped as i'm using less throttle to maintain and pick up speed and its changing up sooner ect.... also maybe a gearbox remap would help? been reading today people having mpg increased from cleaning their map and maf sensors and resetting the maf adaptations.... but cleaning the MAF is a bit of a grey area. |
