1.3" longer? Random.

I'm really torn with the 2011 redesign. I love the rear, hate the front. Love the new interior features, hate the new engine. The exterior in general looks too soft and very feminine. There's no edginess, or muscularity in the lines anymore. And the exhaust is quieter?? Why would they do that??? That's prob one of my favorite aspects of the Pre-LCI E92. I may just say screw it and buy an M3.

6-speed manual gear ratios are different with wider spread from 1-2(I don't like) but 3% taller 6th gear(I do like).

hmmmm....

At the rocker sills, the skirts flare outward just slightly instead of just tucking under. Then in back you can discern (perhaps with the help of the Hubble telescope or maybe instead a BMW corporate specialist, your pick) more tapered corners on the trunk lid to help accentuate the newly incorporated LED elements in the taillights. Other than these tuchus mods, there is a new horizontal contour in the bottom-most part of the rear fascia that adds a little presence and draws more attention to the two chromed exhaust tips.

does that mean we can not swap tails?? ~Frost

I'm loving the LEDs but I'm hating the quiet exhaust.

Is this to, again, help differentiate the i from the is?

If so, I'm really really really starting to feel like BMW is looking at me like a complete and utter tool. A Homer Simpson.

Hey, Look at This!
Really, there ain't much to holler about as far as exterior styling is concerned. The car is 1.3 inches longer, with most of that length in front, and the whole business has been embellished with the stronger-looking, newly chromed double kidneys. BMW spokespeople say that this was first and foremost to protect humans in crosswalks should one inexplicably roll up the hood of the car. Morbid stuff, but Europe is especially hard on designers in this particular area of safety, and you can see the evidence in the changes to the BMW 5 Series and 7 Series.

A Less Raucous 335i
While the former twin-turbo 335i had a relatively big voice and the new twin-turbo 335is has a charming burliness to its exhaust note, the newly sensible 2011 335i lowers its tone a bit, but without losing performance. To hear the N55 engine's song better, you just have to search out more tunnels and highway underpasses.

No Midlife Crisis Here
Basically nothing is being fixed on the 2011 BMW 335i Coupe and 2011 BMW 335i Convertible that was so terribly wrong with the 2010 BMW 335i Coupe and convertible. You'll go farther and pollute less on a tank of fuel while moving practically as briskly as the guy who just bought the 335is.
Expect the freshened 2011 BMW 335i Coupe and Convertible to land in the U.S. and Canada just as the 335is disembarks, which should be late April. Pricing is just under $1,000 more per car over the outgoing edition, the surcharge for the convertible remaining around $8,500 above the equivalently equipped coupe.

What new interior features?!

I think the front looks like ass unless you get the Mtech which looks VERY nice. Makes a big difference. Much bigger than the previous E46 vs E46 ZHP.

I fail to see why on earth BMW would change the length of a car in LCI. Most of the LCI stuff is typically small modifications that just change the add-ons, like wheels, lights, bumpers, grills, etc. Why would they change the actual main part of the car to increase the length? Is there any possibility that InsideLine is wrong?

I also don't understand why they would make the exhaust quieter. If I read that about the 328i, I may understand, because there are far less enthusiast drivers driving that car, who may have complained about the exhaust note, but why on the 335i????

Again, all numbers for horsepower and torque stay equal in the transition from N54 engine to N55, though launch control in the six-speed automatic enables this 2011 car to get to 60 mph in an estimated 5.4 seconds, BMW says. Seeing as we bettered the estimate for the former 335i by 0.4 second, we boldly expect to do so again, since 295 lb-ft of torque arrives fully at 1,200 rpm.
so no DCT but we will have launch control? i assume they are taking about 335i and not 335is with DCT.

I read somewhere (c&d?) that this is because of Europe's new pedestrian-safety laws. Bumpers had to be redesigned to be more pedestrian-friendly.

EDIT: And according to tag824's post above, Inside Line also said this.

this way they "force" the BMW enthusiast to get a more expensive car - the M3.
For the non-enthusiast the new 335i coupe will be more appealing because it's more focused on luxury and comfort.

Yeh, BMW has mastered the art of fu**ing you up the pooper. I can't beleave they would make the E92 into a nancy boys car, this is so tragic.

Quieter exhaust - WTF??

such a lame Facelift...

if they would have introduced a digital speedo like in the 7 and 5 series or would have offered a HUD for the 3 series it would be different though

They'll most probably introduce digital speedo in the f30. This just a facelift not a completely new model.

I have the 2010 and am kind of annoyed that the 2011 is a little under a $1000 more than the 2010. They took things out of the 2010 like the nets in the back of the seats, took out the cigarette lights and left some hole, didnt put in a hood liner and yet the price went up by almost $1k. My next car will be either an Audi or MB

As if Audi, MB, et al are not raising prices as well?

My 335 price per mile, with ED pricing, 26.2 overall mpg, and no out of pocket maintenance, is equivalent to a Camry or Accord. If only the mods were less expensive...
