Clunk when decelerating
I have a 2008 BMW 335xi MT with 130k miles. When I am slowing down (either in gear or neutral) I get repeated clunks which are audible and felt on my shifter. Would this suggest differential problems or an engine mount issue?
Note: The car also vibrates noticeably on idle with the AC on. Thoughts? |

Probably the new spark plugs or injectors...
Just kidding! Likely your drive shaft hanger bearing is gone. Rubber around the bearing wears and it starts to move and hit the sides. |

To check it, you'll have to get under the car and see if you can "grab the shaft" and move it around. Just looking at the component may not be enough as the tears are sometimes not that visible. Edit: Googled procedure http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/tech..._Replacing.htm |

My 2009 335xi manual transmission had clunking on deceleration but only when the car had warmed up. I changed the transfer case fluid and 95% of the clunking is gone. I have not yet reset the adaptation.
