Multiple Errors: ABS, DBC failure, FTM System Error
Hello,
I have a number of warnings being reported but when I connect a Foxwell 530 it doesn't report any errors. Errors include... DBC Failure FTM System Error Brake Light Failure (though intermittent) Driving stability ABS error Restraint systems faulty (though only happened once) The ASS also hasn't worked for years, so could be a battery problem. There's been a number of similar posts on these forums and the ABS sensor seems a common problem. But without error codes it's difficult to determine the source. The car actually runs fine. Any ideas? |

I had a very similar issue and it was indeed a wheel speed sensor. I scanned mine with Carly which gave me a few codes which then suggested which wheel sensor it was. Then when my mechanic looked at live data, the suspected sensor wasnt reading anything. New sensor fitted, faults cleared and all good.

Being pedantic your Foxwell says there are no 'pending codes' in 'the module'.
So my questions would be: 1) which module is it looking at? 2) what about codes already stored rather than pending? Not sure how Foxwell present their data or if they have BMW specific machines since I only use INPA but as already suggested you need to view live data while in motion for the best chance of catching a faulty wheel sensor. |

Just looked up the Fowell 530 and indeed they do sell a BMW (plus Mini and Rolls Royce) specific scanner so I assume this is the one you have.
It should also be capable of reading live data so you might have to resort to reading the instructions on how to do that. |

Wish I'd never commented on this cos my cars throwing up the alarms again now. So looks like I've got another wheel speed sensor gone!
I'll update my situation after its looked at on tuesday. An update from the OP would be good. |

Just scanned mine with Carly and it looks like it's the NSR speed sensor or the reluctor rings as the codes are:
005DB6 0049F2 Kind of makes sense really as it was the NSF that went a little while ago. That side of the car runs through all the crap on the side of the road so those sensors have a harder life than the ones on the offside. I'll confirm the findings when my mate looks at it tomorrow evening. |

I had the same errors minus the brake light failure and it was the wheel speed sensors, they don't seem to last all that long!
I'd have thought that would be it for the OP. |
