These tools are useless for stealing BMW's which have had the 2012 onwards security update. As far as I know, without an original key you cannot add a new one.
you should have watched watchdog mate.

2013 X5. BMW claimed it had the software update. proof it took 2minutes for guy to program blank key and drive off with car.
I don't believe it had the correct update in that case. Or didn't have SOPT+ encryption enabled.

The fact is most vehicle are stolen by burglary. Stupid people leaving their keys on display through the letter box!

Correct. Just update CAS yourself with winkfp. Or take it to good Indy.

After doing a bit of research it seems even SOPT+ has been bypassed.

The method seems to downgrade CAS firmware. Although the cheaper tools take 10-12 mins to complete the key programming.

Glad my OBD port is rewired!

This has been going on for years. Not sure how comfortable a forum member would feel approaching a crim for that service unless it was a mate.

Sorry to hijack thread but looking for advice regarding my 330D E92 2012 model.

I have recently purchased the car and it only came with one key. How much do BMW charge for a replacement key? I have read that a new key can Be programmed at home rather than taking it to the dealers? Is this possible?

Thanks

Well phoned my local dealer today and ordered a new key for a total of £167.

He told me the way to programme it was to leave it in the key drawer in the car for 10seconds and then start it and that will be it programmed. I am a bit sceptical if this is true or not. He insisted they did not need the car in the workshop to programme it he said as the key comes pre programmed the ecu only needs to learn it while it’s Inserted into the drawer. Seems to easy! Anyway I’ll give it a go and see what happens.

I bought a new key for mine, bit over £167 for the fob and blade. Came preprogrammed, they told me about some process of a few seconds to link it to car but can't remember what it was, just worked perfectly first time and nothing for me to do. Annoyingly the garage I bought the car from found the second key but didn't bother to tell me, posted it to me the same day I ordered the new key, when 2nd key arrived the next day was too late to cancel so now have 3 keys! New one is still sat in the bag, only used for 5 mins to drive home, annoying they didn't ring me since they posted the key 5 hours before I placed the order! Better to pay £167+ and have 3 keys than 2 I guess though...

I can’t find my E90 without comfort access key/fob. Dealer is charging $236, and that’s with a 15% off discount. I’m going to keep looking, and hopefully I find it. I can’t believe how expensive the key/fob is. Any suggestions on where to find it for less? Thanks.

Had to bite the bullet, and order a new key fob for my E90 without comfort access. $236.00 was the best deal I found from a dealership. Significantly cheaper than most dealers in my area. One dealer was charging $395.00.
