I've had mosfet problems, water pump failure, abs motor failure since my ownership of ~25,000 miles over 8 years. Limped it home after the first 2 failures. Has not left me stranded yet but I expect it to eventually lol. I fixed the mosfets and abs pump with DIY mindset for very cheap vs taking it somewhere. These cars have many failure points. As time goes on some are being sorted out with better tech. Seems like manufacturers push cars out before technology is thoroughly vetted or knowingly bad products then rely on warranties to not upset people too much. The fuel pump, water pump, coils and injectors are not DIY cheap...and this pricing increase seems a bit dramatic. I wanted some index 12's just to be proactive and have on hand but probably wait until a for sure failure now.

Jeez I sold my first 335i back in 2013, been wanting to pick up another cheap N54 for a fun daily driver. Now I see the prices are $3065 for 6 injectors on FCP...what the hell happened lol. Supply & demand or just no supply at all?

Garage List
Got them on order from a BMW dealership here in the Netherlands. They cost me €1642,69 excluding vat with 18% discount. However they are still waiting for the last two injectors to arrive.

They probably go up in price again because of the shortage.

My index 8's are doing perfectly fine on full e85 for awhile now.. make sure you keep them clean. That's all I've done.

you really got to look at the plugs and all the data. imo index 12 are a must if you plan to keep and tune your n54. dont see the price going down ever at this point. eventually even the casual buyer will know not to buy a car without index 12s. the smoothness it provided was surprising over my non leaking injectors and really sad state how this affects the future of tuned n54s powered cars

The gasoline naturally cleans them, right?

I think that if I needed to replace a leaky injector (not sure why so many people replace the entire set when one or two are bad).....I would pick up some decent looking used ones for cheap, and then send them off to a place that could clean and inspect them. There are tons of used injectors out there....some pretty cheap. Ebay is full of used injectors for $90-$150.

Also, I would be calling up local junk yards and seeing if they had any vehicles with N54's in them....and then going and pulling the injectors for cheap.

There are a lot more options out there than having to spend $3k++ on a full set of brand new index 12 injectors.

I agree with this but going used can be a hassle. Doesnt always work out that easy. I don't have any yards near me that would sell just the injectors from a good used motor. Odds are if its a n54 theyll be a older index anyways. This whole injector ordeal really sucks.

Yes...buying used parts can (and usually is) a hassle.

But....I can put up with a lot of hassle to save $3k.

For anyone in the UK, https://bmbitzltd.co.uk/ quoted me £250+VAT per new injector (index 11). I imagine index 12 would be similar if they are available.

Hopefully, it's a sign that supply is easing because previously they were unavailable. I've also heard from people on my local FB group getting new injectors from BMW again.
