Some updates whats next to expect from us:
  • All existing M57/N57 calibrations have been updated to V2.0 in the meantime. So all exisiting xHP customers with 3.0D engines should check out the app for this update. (3-Series, 5-Series and X5/X6)

  • We're in the last days of GKE191/GKE211 beta phase. GKE191 covers 2005 and 2006 cars like 330d (231 HP), 530d (218hp) and 535d (272 hp) with 6HP26 trans. The GKE211 is the GKE191's little brother for the 6HP19 cars, so 320d (163hp), 325i (N52), 330i (N52) etc. The first GKE191 release is planned for Friday and will cover the 330d and 330xd. A few days later we should also have 535d calibrations ready to ship. Other variants will follow over the upcoming weeks.

  • Next in line is GKE194. GKE194 covers 6HP26 cars in the 2003/2004 range. It's already implemented and flashes fine on the table. If all works well, we will have a 645i test car with GKE194 here during next week. So looking good we can release some maps for those cars as well before Christmas.

As always, the date ranges are roughly, as BMW not always changed stuff along the MY, but in between. So always check your car with the app, before buying anything.

All those controllers (GKE = Getriebekontrolleinheit = TCU) belong to the 1st generation of 6HP transmissions, which is quite different to the 2nd generation. So not only the hardware is different, but also the maps and flashing procedure changed a lot. Thats why this stuff took us some time to implement, along handling the daily business as well. Also for some time it wasn't clear if the 1st Gen hardware allows for any noticeable gains at all.

Given that, I'm even more happy to say, that the gains on the GKE191 are suprisingly big. Given the fact how clumsy and slugghish those boxes come stock, we didn't expect too much from them in terms of shift speeds and reaction time. The owners know it, but for the rest: The delay between pulling the lever and the shift starting is around 1 second on them. Might sound short, but in the car it feels like ages. We have yet to measure exact numbers 1:1 but the gain is quite impressing and a huge leap for those cars. Pretty confident owners will love it.

So can we assume that for us GKE191(06 330D) owners the results are very similar to what you achieved on the newer hardware?

Yes! Of course not 100% the same, as the 2nd generation is more modern in many aspects, but it's not far off!

Driving to work today, car shifted from 4th to 5th on the highway and immediately through a transmission code. Was stuck in 5th gear and wouldn't up-shift or downshift based on speed. Pulled off the highway, put the car in park and turned to the car fully off for 30 seconds. Started back up and car wouldn't allow me to shift out of P without using the manual override.

Clearing the code from XHP did not resolve my issue. Nothing has changed on the car, been driving it like it is for the last 3k miles with no issues.

Fault codes on XHP show 4FB80 TCU: Internal Error (serveilance Level 2). Any suggestions on a fix?

A TCU Reset (Misc Menu) can clear that code. Please shoot us an e-mail to office@rbttuning.com, so we can check what happened.

App Version 1.1.97 with support for 2005/2006 330d (231 HP) and 330xd is live!

Stage descriptions for 330d:

Stage 1:

The Stage 1 file maximizes the comfort by early upshifting and downshifting later. This helps to reduce noise, mileage and wear on your car. The shifts itself are a little tuned, to make the trans feel more modern, while retaining full factory smoothness.

- Gear Display in Dash in all modes
- Shiftpoints optmized for low mileage and wear
- Shiftspeeds slightly increased

Stage 2

The Stage 2 calibration wakes up the transmission to give it a more sporty touch. Shiftspeeds are increased in all modes, combined with recalibrated Shiftpoints in D mode to give you an overall more modern and fun driving experience. WOT shiftpoints are changed to keep the M57 engine in the optimal torque range during acceleration. In manual mode you will experience faster shifts and a removed Kickdown to avoid unwanted downshifts.

- Gear Display in Dash in all modes
- Recalibrated Shiftpoints in D for better response on driver-inputs
- Recalibrated Shiftpoints in S to keep the engine in the happy rev-range
- Shifts noticeably quickened in all modes
- Kickdown removed in M
- Torque limiters removed

Stage 3

You won't recognize your good old auto transmission with our Stage 3 file. Shifttimes under WOT have been cut by over 50%, reactions to gear lever inputs in M are instant and trigger really firm, fast shifts. At the same time, the Stage 3 keeps the comfort and smooth shifts during normal driving. All shiftmaps have been recalibrated to create a way more lively driving experience than before. Last but not least we removed the auto-upshift in manual mode, to let you have fun, when you want it.

- Shifttimes under WOT cut by over 50%
- Recalibrated Shiftmaps in D and S to facilitate active driving
- True Manual Mode
- Gear Display in Dash in all modes
- Shift delay after corners removed
- Torque Limiters removed

Flashed!!!! Finally...

I'm on adaptation phase, STAGE 3 of course, 330d e92.

I'm feeling the adaptation, the gearbox initially slip much more than now...as soon as i finished the 50miles adaptation phase i'll try it for good!

Likely theres no car saved yet, so it does not know what to sync the license to.

Message to all, that are getting "Sanity Check failed" with the latest app version (V1.1.97), when starting a flash:

Please go to to the Car Information Screen and click "Re-Check Vehicle". After resyncing your vehicle data, it will work again!

Sorry, for the inconveniences!

Got it...thank you. The problem was not the webpage, but the outdated link in my signature. --> https://www.xhpflashtool.com

Yep, it's fine now.

By the way, when is the V2.0 update scheduled for the pré 03/2007 335d's?

Well, checking if a new version is there, is very easy. Open the app, click the map, scroll down to see the versions and changes.

But, yes V2.0 is already released.

Ah ok, i've read a few weeks ago on Facebook that V2.0 was released for the newer 335d and the release for the pre 03/2007 had to come later but probably i missed the info that it's already there.
I don't check on my car in regular basis if the xHP app is updated, i try to check it on facebook or here in this thread...but looking at your reaction it seems i apparently missed something.

But, thx anyway for the confirmation.

when doing a back up from a nexus 7 tablet using bimmer.s.o,ftware cable 15 minutes into the back up I am getting something like "your INPA cable returned too many fail to read errors. Total packet loss:3"
I wasn't able to take a picture as it was only on for 20 seconds or so

I have another car running with jumper cables attached and tested voltage to be above 12.4

the cable is a pre tested cable that i have used to diagnose and do some simple coding successfully.

what might be the issue?

Edit: the issue was aparently i was opening and closing the doors. Thanks!

Updated a few hours ago my stage 3 map to V2.0....the stern lurge problems i had when down shifting, especially from 4th to 3th, are completely disappeared.

A bit pityful that i don't have rev matching and firm downshifting anymore but i don't really care considering the perfect down shifts.

All the downshifts are now 100% correct. I'am a very happy person,...again!!
Now i drive my car with a more bigger smile.

I hope that the others who had the same problem are helped too with this update.

Good update xHP, thx.

Question for XHP
pre 03/2007 335i

are there any plans to update stage 1 or stage 2 ??

my issue is the surge forward downshifting from 4-3 and 3-2 in sport mode or M mode if the rpms are a bit higher

also hard shift from 2-3 in D mode

I never had the surge forward with the previous version

Since there is a dedicated stage4 for track use... can we soften up the shifts a bit in stage 3 ???

I would BUY stage 2 if that would help the hard shifts but stage 1 and 2 are still on v0.9 and they dont seem to get any updates EVER so it would be a waste of money if i bought it now

thanks XHP
