Wheels

So I have a lot to learn about my newly purchased e90 328xi, I am trying to start out by getting some new wheels.

So, as far as the lug pattern, I know the wheel has to have 5 holes obviously, but does the distance part have to be identical? Can i pull it off if its close? My friends wheels on his 535 need to be 120s, and he hes looking at a set that are 114s....the general consensus online seemed to be that this would not work?
I also read that there are adapters that can make up smaller differences between sizes or you can even drill out the difference in size in some cases? This seems risky to me...

Please excuse my ignorance in anything I may be misinterpreting when it comes to this!

All BMW 5 lug wheels have to be 5x120. 5x114/114.3 will not work. Some have redrilled wheels to fit, which generally is frowned upon because it is difficult to do right and you have no good way of assuring the wheel will remain intact until it breaks on the highway and you're dead...a little late.

Good quality adapters can work, but they usually have to be at least 1", or 25mm, thick, which in most cases pushes them too far out unless the wheel is a very high positive offset to begin with.

IOW, find wheels made for/fit your car.

Maybe put this in the wheels section. Might get some more better answers. Newb
