OP could just wash with ONR, too. That will solve his problem (with ONR, you wash one section at a time and dry immediately).

Not trying to take business from the supporting vendors but you can get waffle weave drying towels at Pep boys and such for 7 bucks, they work just as well as the expensive ones. I know this because I have a couple of expensive ones and my son bought one at Pep Boys for his car as I won't let him use my stuff. Yes I'm a mean dad

ok guys, i just bought the electric leaf blower (230 mph) one.

i washed the car as usual.
cranked up the leaf blower.
#1 it takes too long to screet/blow the water off \.
it works OK, but it takes too long, and the car starts to dry before i can BLOW it off, then i end up with water spots.

the blower seems like a good idea, but good ol microfiber towels work alot better for me,(quicker, dryer,no water spots)

the good thing i DID like about the blower was, DRYING off the rims / tires. It works GREAT and fast. but the car/body panels its too slow and leaves spots !

if somebody has some tips on the leaf blower, let me know, i want to use it, but have fail at my first attempt!!!
thanks guys

said perfectly. The wax repells the water so it doesnt stick to the car so much. Using a blower can also help get water out of the cracks and crevices so you dont end up with water spots in there also. You might want to look into a spot free washing system also. This will filter the water from your hose making it spot free. This gives you much more time to dry the car.

Thanks man. Yeah, I was really surprised. I took it to the track a few nights ago. It was kind of a spur of the moment sort of thing, so I showed up w/ almost 3/4 tank of gas and engine at 240 degrees and ran a 13.4@104 right off the bat, so I was pretty surprised. The weather was nice though at 55. My best time was launching at around 1700.

Hi yall new here but had to chime in. Water spots are caused by the minerals in your water drying on the car. Unless you want to spend lots of money for a whole house de ionizer get one of the Mr Clean sprayers with the filter. depending on how "dirty" your water is depends on how long the filter lasts. it works better and faster than anything ive used. after you wash and rinse go back over the entire thing with just the filtered water from the sprayer then dry as normal or let sit in shade and dry on its own. Very few if any spots.

I bought two microfiber drying towels from griots and they're awesome. I've tried many things before but this is far and away the best thing. Trust me you won't be unhappy. I use the first one to get the majority of the water off and then dry with the second one. They soak up the water so fast you can dry in the sun. Then I go back with the first towel and clean the door jams, trunk, and under the hood. Works great. Bit pricey to start but I've had mine for about 5 years now and they're still like new. The size is about 2' X 3' so pretty good size

I also bought a mit like this but not from griots that I'm happy with. Good luck

I would also definitely recommend a california blade for the windows (not the paint) so you can keep your microfibers dry for the body panels.

I always tell guys who are serious about car care and have no shade that it really is worth investing in a CR spotless. Sure, it's expensive, but it'll literally last a lifetime and needs resin refills very infrequently.

Do not buy those waffle weave towels from Autozone, pep boys, etc.. I repeat DO NOT. they will scratch the hell out of your car. Buy them from a reputable dealer and spend the $20 on good ones.

One test is to rub your towel on the back of a CD and see if it leaves marks. Watch what those cheap waffle weaves do to it.

bought mine from Chemical Guys. $15 on special highest quality. Used it 3 times so far and no scratches. I was skeptical at first.

This is the BEST method i've ever tried to drying my car.

First, Rinse off the entire car with water.

THen,
TAKE IT OUT FOR A DRIVE.

i took it out for about 3-4 mins and drove about 55mph for one minute. when you get back all you have to dry is the rear window, trunk, and rear bumper. There are very random water droplets on the front and sides of the car. But its not alot if anything.

I used a sham wow type of cloth to get rid of excess and a 100% cotton towel to dry the rest. I noticed a hint of swirls using it, so I have to go get a microfiber towel.

Besides, the manual says to drive the car briefly to dry the brakes and prevent corrosion.

Try to do this when the sun isnt out. I have space gray so i didnt really see any water spots when i got back. Someone try this and let me know how it goes. I have to say it was the best method i've ever tried.

Edit: I realize that depending on your area or the outdoor conditions, you might not be able to do this year round. Next time i wash my car, I'll put up photos of a before and after when using this method.

If you mean the california water blade, that's only good for windows. If you water blade dry a car and you pick up a speck of anything you're just going to give yourself a long ass scratch.

I ShamWoW it first, then use MF towels to finish up the job dabbing around. Takes a bit of time, but I consider it a tradeoff on less time when I detail as there should be less scratches/swirl marks.

not a great idea. Dust and road particles would land on the car during the drive and when you dry it with a cloth afterwards, you will scratch /swirl the paint. If you go this route, at least spray the car down with a QD prior to toweling down.

best way to dry car is :

1. towel by hand (microfiber towel)
2. leaf blower, if you have 20 minutes to dry car, then go back and re-wet & dry spots that left marks.
3. California blade, if you want your car all scratched up.
4.get in it, gun it for 5 minutes, then dry wet spots.
5.let it bake in the sun under extreme temperatures, only drawback is major pitting, repaint required.
6. watch weather channel for no sun , but 230 mph winds, and let nature takes its course, haaaa.
7. place 478 randomly placed canaries in cages around your car, and ask them to flap their wings simutaneously(sp), in turn, this dries car evenly.
8. to dry back end of car, get in car, slap it in reverse, get up on nearest major highway, and cruise "in reverse" as fast as reverse will go for 3.6 miles.
9. repaint car with material "shamfuggin wow" is made of, NO NEED TO EVER DRY YOUR CAR AGAIN. haaaa
