What is logic 7 processing exactly?
As mentioned in this post, I'm trying to manually recreate the locic 7/pro logic processing using VSTs. Good enough for a home theater, but what more do these processes do in our cars in terms of rear fill, time alignment, phasing and whatever else they do? I can measure them in my car. I have a calibrated mic and a pro audio interface to use. But I need to know what and how to measure the effects.

Why would you want to .
Its a format developed to change stereo into quasi multichannel there is a logic 7 processor that makes decisions how to do this. sound . This is not the same as recording something in a multichannel format and playing it back with the same number of channels. Stereo purists consider this over processed crap. https://www.google.com/search?client...c+7+processing Last edited by ctuna; 04-10-2019 at 01:43 AM.. |

In my experience, l7 centers the sound stage for all passengers of my car. Using TA, only the driver gets a good sound and there was a 'hole' in front and behind me. Idk how to describe this. I could still position instruments in front, and yet, there was still a hole. With L7, I lost the stereo imaging a bit, but gained a centered image in front of me and all other passengers. I heard that with the MS-8 and h800, you retain that multi position listening and the stereo imaging and the sound wraps around you completely.
However, I couldn't find out what L7 does in cars on top of just creating the centre channel from stereo. |

What I can say is that every passenger feels like the sound stage is in front of them. Apparently, with the h800, everybody feels at the center of the sound stage. Its like the system is time aligned for every seat position.

Yeah. The alpine DSP is what I'm referring to. Apparently, the new C-DSP has 12 out, matrices for upmixing and DIRAC live, for $900! Might be worth a look, but still wayyy out of my budget. If DIRAC comes out with the standalone plugin soon, its gonna be in my car.
The most I found out L7 does through 2 separate papers(not the one above) is phasing out the rear door speakers by 90° and the rear deck ones by 180°. |
