Hi, i have a late 2008 LCI E90 335D. What numbers should i be seeing for the compression test?
I have an issue with the engine and its gone into the garage but i did a test and got 0 on cylinder 5 and getting 260-280 on all the others. What reading should i be seeing so i can check when i get the car back. Thank you |

wow, this amazing thread gone silent since last November.
Curious if Billy fixed all the issues with new bearing and new head studs running stock tune? any tips on the reinstall of bearings and head? as far as compression test for sameen, my only comment is that the compression numbers should all be the same... is it running? |

Is not running....it kinda got put on the back burner. Now I'm waiting on some CAMS and springs from Colt and Whitbread performance. Had a hell of a time getting the correct bearings, SEVERAL aftermarket companies had oil hole alignment issues, so I ended up getting them from BMW. Should start going back together in the next 2 weeks.

the term "lifetime" is not literal. it should be "life expectancy". the manufacture lifetime of most modern engines is only about 150k. with that being said anything that is "lifetime" needs to be changed eventually. 335dsleeper is a M57 god a long with a few others here. he was ban from the site for too much awesomeness.

Soonerbilly, did you get the engine back together? At least tell us of recent progress please. thanks
I'm am sort of puzzled why low compression on cylinder 4 would in anyway relate to spun bearing on #6 rod. I presume you heard engine noise before ever starting compression checks. |

^^^Yeah knocking at the end of 2 runs at the strip. Was never really bad and would kind of come and go. Decided to open her up and look, found the spun rod bearing.
I now have all my parts( got the colt cams, upgraded springs, some head work ) starts going back in on Friday, but now that its summer i'll be at the lake quite a bit so who knows how long this will take. |
