Which Delphi ignition coils?
I'm going to be remapping my n54, 335i using MHD in the near future, but want to avoid any misfire issues that seem, oh so common when upping the boost and (I guess) ignition timing on the n54.
I am leaning towards the Delphi as they seem well regarded over the in US, where, lets face it, there are thousands more tuned n54's than there are in the UK. but, I have found two part number both of which pertain to the n54, which ones do I need? Delphi GN10571-12B1, which is a 12v coil https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/delphi-7428306.html Delphi GN10475-12B1, rated at 14v https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/delphi-7908929.html I'll also be doing the plugs while I have it apart, I assume the Bosch ZGR6STE2 would be a good choice, or is there a better plug to use when running a stage 1 MHD tune, A step colder maybe? Thanks. Drew. |

NGK5992 plugs are very popular and 1 step colder. Remember that these do not come pre gapped.... u will need to gap them yourself. 0.022 gap. I'm not sure on the part numbers yet for the Delphi coils ... but yes you are on the right track in getting good coils and good plugs when you are running more power via MHD etc. Eldor are very good coils for the N45 also.... check them out.
