Ok 2007 e91 320i,seem to have a whining from the engine bay,first thought leaking vac pump but i think this is ok,then checked all the stuff running on the serpentine belt.Alternator ok,,idler bearing ok,p/steering ok,but the air con pump seems noisy,should this be smooth? If its knackered can i bypass it with a shorter belt till i can afford to repair it? also cost to repair?

update,shorter belt and now quiet ,so new air compressor needed!
