At the end of the day dynos are just used to dial in the afrs and thats it.. or use it for a before and after, but it has to be on the same dyno. it will produce a # but what does it mean to you or us real enthusiasts ? absolutely nothing.
wut. Mustang dynos are absolutely superior to Dynojet. But it has nothing to do with output numbers, because as we all agree, those are about worthless except to verify that a mod is working as it should, assuming one is using the idea of dynos correctly. And Dynojet is definitely not "trusted more," you just see them way more often because they're CHEAPER than other, more dynamic, dynos. I agree with your second paragraph though.

I went to the link and signed up and downloaded the zip files for the N51. I'm downloading the other needed files now.

If I understand everything correctly, the tune/flash they have is what was used on the 2006 330i with the 3IM. My N51 has the the 3IM already as it was BMW's way of compensating for the lower compression ratio than that of the N52, but still allowed them to get their special SULEV rating. My stock N51 tune is also dumbed down like my compression. So installing this flash/tune on my DME will liven things up a little bit? Not like an AA or BPC (sp?) tune though.

Also, does anyone think that this may help the slight hesitation I get through out the rpm band under load that I can't pinpoint as I have no codes?

TIA!!!

Unfortunately, I dont currently have a performance tune for the N51. I could build one, but its not a high priority at the moment. There have only ever been 2 requests so far..

Okay Hass, now you have me confused. When you say you don't have a performance tune, my understanding is that is you don't have something along the lines of what AA or BPC has out. From what I've read, it sounds like you had a good part in the 330i tune.

I guess the best question to ask is, with a stock 328 N51 6mt with a stock 3IM, would I get anything from going through the process of doing the 330i tune/flash.

Sorry if I'm making this harder than it is.

Possibly - I'm just saying, I haven't physically built a file for the N51. You can't flash the N52 tune, they run a different program (MSV80.1).

The only thing a mustang dyno offers that older dyno jets didn’t was the ability to put a load on the car for tuning - which most Dynojects can do. Dynojets are literally the standard, though I do like Dynapack* dynos.

Then what are the two OPA.zip files (ZB#8619586 & 8608124) for then on the Bimmerlabs site for download for N51 engines.?

Do you want to just go to pm so I don't bore everyone?

We can flash our "330i" tune to the N51 cars with some minor modifications to our N52 flash, but I don't know how optimally it would run since the N51 has some hardware differences (most notably the pistons and therefore compression ratio IIRC).

Ah. I've never seen a Dynojet that could be "loaded" i.e. eddy current, so call me corrected..

I've been thinking about making the trek up to you guys for a tune at the beginning of next year and would love to see what you guys can do!

So if we already have your tune and you make an optimized one for our engines we can get the latest and greatest free of charge or for a small amount?

Just uploaded it this morning.

2009 e90 328i sport 6MT

3-stage IM and charcoal delete.

It's a little different, but certainly not night and day. I expected more of a change, honestly. Will check to make sure everything is plugged in correctly, because I don't feel any changes in the valves opening and closing...it's like a lively 328, but no more...

I didnt do the charcoal filter delete. and im never going to delete it. still on fram air filter that was installed on my car 8 months ago by PO. I REALLY wanted to replace it but it didnt give me any reason too. But that 330i tune really changed the way my car felt. maybe because i have a 325i.

How does one go about doing that?

It's a manual, and I don't have any scan tool whatsoever.

You don’t really need one. Do you have a cable?

Let me ask, did the DISA dip go away?
