Car won't crank/start post MHD/Stock flash
So I've been running MHD stage 2 maps for a little over a year, alpina flash, and my car has been running a little off, felt shaky as i've been putting miles on it (it has 120k miles) so I decided i was going to flash it to stock and take it in to a shop. car has been running relatively well up unto this point, just took a short round trip about 350 miles and it did fine so the car has been operational. I flash it back to stock with MHD and it won't crank, flash was successful, no error codes, won't even crank just makes a mechanical sound and nothing. I flashed it to a few different MHD maps, all successful, still won't crank.
resent all adaptations, no crank left battery unplugged for 3 days reflashed to stock, to stage 2, etc, no crank. I'm at a loss, the car was fine until i flashed it back, every write has been successful but now it won't even try to start. Any ideas would be appreciated. 2009 335 120k miles, FMIC, down pipes, charge pipe, been running MHD stage 2 maps for over a year. |

Dont know how long an MHD flash takes, but did you have a battery charger connected during the flash? Might've drained it to the point where it was enough to complete the flash, but not strong enough to crank the car. Just guessing here.

I did have a battery charger connected.
As for starter I suppose it could be a problem, it would be an amazing coincidence that it started the second i flashed the car when it worked literally 20 minutes prior, but possible i'll look up how to jump it. |

I haven't tried jumping the car but the battery appears fine, all the electronics work, it charges to full with the trickle charger. radio etc all play fine.

$20-30 for a decent remote control starter switch will tell you if the starter is crapped out, which is what it sounds like. Or could be an issue between the battery and starter.
I'll add that just because the electrics work doesn't mean your battery is working well enough to crank the car and run it. What resting voltage are you reading?

Car running fine, pull into drive way. Come back an hour later, no crank. Zip, nada, nothing. I try everything. I check voltage, etc....... I eventually resign myself to it being the starter. Rolled it back to a place in the driveway where it wouldn't block other cars. I pulled it all apart looking at the DIY. You will need that E12 socket and a ratchet that is that and adjusts 90 degrees. I bought the starter at AutoZone. It was a Bosch reman done in the USA. The new one they had was from China. Not doing it. I'd rather have a Bosch reman that a new Chinese knockoff. Once replaced it fired right up. My starter gave no warning. No slow starts. No heat soaking and failed to start while hot. It just died. I'm glad it died in the driveway.
