Anyone have the CP-E DCI?
In need of some new filters and was gonna go with the DCI from CP-E
Was just interested to see if anyone has them? The oiled version.. I saw a member on here had pre-filters that he said came with them? Wanted to see if this was true aswell. |

I have them in my 335xi. Installed them when I put the JB4 in. Don't know what you mean BT "prefilter." package included two pre-oiled cones, adapter pipes and hose clamps needed to install them in place of the OEM airbox. I like mine but have nothing to compare them with. They sound good!

I have them as well. Had BMS DCI for about a year and refreshed them a few times, but I wanted to try something different. I like the way they fit better and they look good.

My roommate has their dry filters. Much better fit and appearance than my BMS dci. Really like them. I love their parts (have their FMIC/OC) and they are ten minutes away from College Park where I'm at school.
I'm thinking that they may have run a promo at one point with the prefilters included, but I don't think they come with them standard.

Can't help re: sound comparison, but your post reminded me to go to the CP-E website and order a filter restore kit. In doing so I saw the pre-filters. I think CP-E is running a special now so the pre-filters come free if you purchase a DCI from it. But BMS sells them cheaper w/o pre- filters.
I also came across a discussion regarding then need for/utility of pre-filters , and the consensus of the participants, incl. Terry from BMS, was that they are overkill. They apparently are useful for applications where your filters are exposed and may get wet or fouled by the elements, i.e. off-road use. I'm not too mechanically inclined, but this does make sense to me. My filters work fine and after approx 7k miles have never gotten excessively dirty (never cleaned yet) or wet. I can't imagine that pre-filters could be of value when the DCIs are protected in the engine bay, and would think they could only impede air flow, albeit, very slightly. |

Yea, i like the pre-filters alot since it gives extra protection from keeping dirt away from your intake and keeps the filters themselves cleaner longer. But for the extra price i didnt want to get them at this time, maybe down the road, but for the price of the pre-filter you can buy a filter cleaning kit so i didnt see a need for them right now. Here in NY, my BMS DCI after i recharge and clean them, they stay clean for a 3K miles and they need cleaning again.. lol.... Yea i just put in my order for them, they look nicer then the BMS DCI, and im gonna like the change.. |

Thanks for the pic 1LUMI... I didn't know you were supposed to actually leave them on after installation, not that it matters because I don't have an intake.
