INPA install failure

sup guy, i got this used laptop that has windows 10 installed on it. i want to use this laptop strictly for inpa and ista so i dont have to keep bringing out my personal laptop every time i have to diagnose something.

So i downloaded bmw easy tools from bimmer geek website and it says i need framework 3.5 to install so i tried running it in windows xp comptabiluty mode and it still says that.

i downloaded vMware virtual machine and using a windows xp professional iso and still tells me the same thing???

My personal laptop has inpa and ista installed on windows 10 and everything seems to work fine. Anybody ran into this issue? please help!!

Did you install the .NET framework that it's asking for? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...ils.aspx?id=21

Inpa and Ista run fine in Windows 10 .
I wouldn't run it in anything less than Win 7.
No reason to run it in a VM.(unless you have a Mac)

I'm facing issues installing the software on a used tablet with Windows 10. Despite trying compatibility modes and virtual machines, the installation keeps prompting for Framework 3.5. Seeking a solution to use the tablet exclusively for point-of-sale operations. Help appreciated! I did some research from popular websites like https://laptopspapa.com/ but now I am fed up.

There are number of factors that can stop diags from installing properly .
There has to be enough free disk space is one about 50 gb for ista D
but Standard tools doesn't take much.
Depending on the download it could take more and Ista p is about 100gb
Netframework should be 3.5 or greater if it's greater you shouldn't have
to do anything with netframework.
To have Ista D run additionally you need all versions of the C++ distributeables
from microsoft .
These are all available as free downloads from Microsoft.

There is a coding sub forum for this stuff.

See ista problems below.
You don't need a virtual machine for this if you are not running on a Mac.
All it does is add more complexity and loads down your machine further.

For standard tools you must be plugged into the car for it to work.
For Ista you can use it offline like a shop manual.

I would not use windows xp for ista or if you hope to run it later.

Well the error message is pretty straightforward, you are missing .NET framework it seems. Is your win 10 up to date? .NET Framework should be part of it.

If not then try to DL here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/do.../on-windows-10

Microsoft GeekSpeak can be a bit trying, but this one appears pretty straightforward. Here's link to "How To":
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/do...net-35-windows

Just running Windows 10 Update SHOULD load most current 3.5 Framework files. Certainly will after following above, IF you have Internet Connection (required for Activation as well). It's a simple Microsoft Windows Installation/ Features issue.

If you have Windows OS, best learn the basics of HOW to search for Microsoft HELP. "Popular Websites" means different things to different folks.
e.g. Heritage Foundation web site is "Popular" with folks who want to believe the 2020 election was "stolen". Separating Fact from BS requires a properly-calibrated BS-Meter.

Well, they are BOTH "BMW Diagnostic Software" developed by BMW for Dealer-Level use, and Factory-Level use, and YOU are in DE. Why not call BMW -- I'm SURE they will help.

Seriously, if you have a download from MEGA (NOT MAGA ;-) from BEFORE BMW shut MEGA-hosted sites with BMW Standard Tools, Datens, & ISTA+ DOWN, you just follow the text file instructions that appear when you UNZIP the compressed file. Since there WERE so many variations of ISTA/ INPA "out there" on the Web, they do NOT ALL install the same way or contain the SAME Data, file size, etc.

If you have any information to share on WHY BMW/ BMW NA went on a "tear" and tried to close ALL INPA/ISTA download sites, related to vehicles > 10-years-old, please enlighten.

I would just add that folks providing "helpful data" usually only provide it to folks with, say > 20 posts.

You’re so right! But I figure this way the OP (and the car) will last long enough in the E90 world to get to 20 posts 😂
