Trunk open warning
Has anyone had their E90 mistakenly warn of the trunk being open, when it isn't? It has happended about 3-4 times, and seems to be when I am reversing. I hear a chime, and a trunk open symbol appears on the instrument cluster. Once I get out of the car, open the trunk, close the trunk then return to the car...the symbol is gone. It has never happened while driving, or moving forward.

Happened to me today.
May not have been the first time. Trunk was definitely NOT open. Not sure if it was when I had just been in reverse or if it just happened as I pulled away from my house. Very weird. |

It happened to me also while I'm driving though. When I went to check it, the trunk was open... This was when I first got the car, haven't happen recently.

Wow, this is very weird. Have any of you taken it to the dealer? Is there a known "fix it bulletin", or recall notice from BMW? Hate to take it to the dealer for such a stupid problem, that doesn't even happen all the time. Besides from the this little glitch, my 330 is perfect...no problems, rattles or defects

Did you open the trunk and not close it properly? Or did you hit the trunk release button on the keyfob by accident? It happened to me twice when I found that the trunk was actually released when I saw that warning.

I've had my car warn me that my trunk was open twice. I certainly did not open it intentionally, and am not sure if the button was accidentally pressed on the key fob, but I doubt it. It's a bit weird, but I am not worried.

I did not push the trunk button by accident, and out of the 3-5x the trunk warning thing has happended, it was actually open 1x. But the other times, it was completely closed. It almost seems that the few times this trunk warning thing occurs, it is when I opened the door via the computerized key fob. Not overly worried by this either, since it does not happen very often. Of course if it happens more often, the sadly..ughhhhh, I will have to take it to the butcher shop.

This happened to me as well the other day. Trunk open warning signal came on while driving. After I got out, the trunk was open but there is no way I accidentally opened it while driving. Me thinks it's our E90 playing tricks.

As soon as I read this I thought of something right away - the trunk wiring harness. E36s, E46s, E39s (including my own) have all had breakdown of the wiring in the rubber rube connecting the body to the trunk lid.
When I got my E90 I noticed this looked almost identical to the E39 harness but I was hoping they had updated materials or something. My E39: http://pics.uplink.ca/public/2007-01...9TrunkHarness/ Just one random Internet thread on the issue: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=397245 Don't be surprised if this affects E90 sedans too. Once or twice per year you'll need to pull that boot back and inspect or repair. |

It happens to me every other week and it goes always after a few minutes. My radio also changes the channel to some Spanish station that is not stored in my favorites when I turn my car or and off at times... BMW and their electronic gremlins!
