Manual 135i (N54) Runs a 10 Second 1/4 Mile Pass @ 136mph!

I finally made it to the 10 second club! One of four(?) N54-powered vehicles in the 10's with a manual transmission. I know it's not a 335i, but close enough.

If you want to watch the whole process and how I eventually ran the 10 sec pass, watch the video below. Otherwise if you just care about the results, slip is below

Gonna work on chopping that 60ft down and improve shifts to knock it down even further.

Dragy slip from the same run:

great pass !! glad you finally got your 10s slip

Maybe switch to bias plys tires ?? might help u hook better and improve your 60 foot, also it reduces wheel hop.

Thank you! I definitely want to try a bias ply tire like I talked about in my video. I think I could cut down the 60ft for sure with the right tire. Only problem is, I can't fit a 28x10x17 on the E82 chassis. I'd have to do a 15" brake conversion and run a 15" bias ply.

claims a 6mt n54 is bad at drag racing but the record holding car ran (past tense lol) in the 9s with a 6mt...

You can definitely get that 60' down more and drop that time a few more tenths. great build. get some more passes on it. Bucket seats will net you -80lbs. It's a big commitment though.

Are you familiar with that 9 second 135i? The whole back half of the car was cutout and is no longer BMW. Complete tub, solid axle, Ford rear end, etc.

Any E9X or E8X that sticks to factory chassis parts struggles in the 1/4 mile. Hats off to Ghassan and his team for doing what it takes to go fast in the 1/4 mile, but I'm not ready to turn my car into a BMW-powered Ford

More weight reduction is in the hopper. With a bias-ply tire, I should be able to cut a better 60ft as well.

I would take his response as a no lol. Ghassan is in his own league and no one will be joining him anytime soon on this platform. The only other 2 people close to him that I'm aware of that can legally run low 10's and quicker (caged) at the strip is a guy in AZ with a TH400 E92 and myself with a 6MT E90. Honestly, Ghassan should be low 9's at least with that car for what he's done. I'm sure he'll break 8's here soon. Not sure why you spend $25k+ in mods though and build an 8.5 sec car and still have a full interior. To each their own.

Why can't you fit 17's? I have 17's on my E90 with factory brakes.

I can fit a 17" wheel, just not that 28x10x17 tire. The E82 has no room for it.

For anyone curious, I put my 135i on the scale to see how much it weighed when I ran that 10 second pass...

When I'm in the car, it's 3450lbs. Light driver mod.

Well, I went back to the drag strip the other day. Made a decent shakedown pass, well on my way to setting a personal best.

Then I snapped an axle. This is the 3rd stock axle that I've snapped.

I'm sick of throwing junkyard axles in it and driving like I'm on glass, so I decided it's time to give the car the parts it really needs.
A lot of content coming soon... will try to break down every install into it's own post.

I'm also going to gut most of the car, but still make it presentable. Work in progress.

Goal is to have the car completely set up and ready by Sept 20th for NFZ 1/2 mile event.

Uhm you just proved my point. Op claimed the 6MT can't be fast yet here you are saying you run low 10's with one. Genius. Not trash talking... but takes experience to launch at the strip and it's something OP needs to work on seeing as how he's dumping the clutch and wheel hopping down the track. Not the transmissions fault like he implies in his video.

Where do I blame the transmission? LOL

As far as you quoting Mr. SJ... he has yet to even make a pass in his car, let alone run 10's

However, he does have a proper cage IF he were to run a 10 second pass.
