So I have the base sound system without a stock amp and I couldn't find the these wires

SUB LEFT
Red/White +
Brown/Yellow -

SUB RIGHT
Red/Blue +
Brown/White -

So my question is, what wires do I tap into for the sub to LOC convertor? I tried searching all over and couldn't find what wire to tap to. I'm looking around the harness that connects to the Idrive computer.??

please help

When I did this in my e82, I tapped directly into the sub lines and went bypassed the high to low line converter and got very poor bass notes (remedied this by installing an aftermarket deck and installing directly from the deck) so would adding that high-low level converter mean that I get more bass, like when I hooked up a custom head unit?

If you have a new head unit that has RCA outputs for sub, connecting these directly to your sub amp is all you need to do. RCA jacks are LOW LEVEL outputs, speaker wire outputs have are HIGH LEVEL, thus if you just tap into speaker wires and try to put into amp it'll be all distorted, thats why you need a Hight/Low level converter that converts that signal back to LOW Level outputs that your amp can now use with lower distortion.

If you use the RCA outs to a sub amp and sounds terrible, chances are its your Sub Woofer / sub box set up. Make sure cross over point is like 80hz and down to the sub.

Hope this helps

Back from the dead post...

I also would like to know how can I add a subwoofer, because i don't have a factory AMP. Should I run the rca converter of the back speaker harness on the doors?

Bass tube/ hide away

I'm looking to add a sub in my trunk, but I'm over the bulky box. Any opinions on the Kicker Hide away 46hs10 or bass tube 46CWTB104? Will either of these be worth it?

Here's the link to a quick YouTube video we're I went over it briefly.
If it's really necessary I can do a full DIY
But I kinda don't want to do it since I just swapped out the clutch and that was a pain in the ass and don't really want to work on the car for a while haha

Bass in Very Low

Even with the with the gain and bass boost set to max, volume is very low. Messed with the LOC settings and nothing seemed to work. Wonder if i have a faulty LOC?
I have the same problem jerryscheery, I installed a sub and amp that was in another car (and sounded good in that car) but the bass is very low.

My car has iDrive. I tapped into the sub wires and ran directly to my amp (Hertz HDP1) as it takes high level inputs. I checked the bass settings on the stock head unit. I have adjusted the subsonic cross over, the low pass cross over as well as the level/gain to make sure they are correct. Bass is still low.

jerryscheery - did you fix your issues?

Does anyone have any ideas?

Edit: I somewhat fixed the low bass issues. I triple checked all connections and found a connection I tapped into one of the sub wires a but questionable. I redid it and the sound has gone from poor to ok. I assume only half the power coming in leading to the low bass output.
