So I just got my depo projector headlights from jlevisw, and because it's such a new product i thought i'd share my full experience and make a DIY for all my fellow e90post members. I won't have time to install these for a few days (working all weekend) but i will certainly keep you updated with all the progress. I'll be posting plenty of pics and videos along the way, so hopefully this will become an all inclusive thread. This is the 6000k HID kit on a 2006 325xi with stock halogens - so here we go

last year i baked open these depos and replaced the angel eyes with the UHP 244 x LED angel eyes. i'll soon revise this DIY and update with angel eye upgrade instructions too.

as for now heres a mini diy i posted in a thread:
i baked mine open to install these and i'll admit it IS pretty frustrating trying to pry open, but it will open up. just reheat as necessary dont give up and dont gouge the thing.
set oven to around 220 degrees FAHRENHEIT and give the headlight a good 10-15 mins to heat up. no need for a baking sheet. use common sense and check on it to make sure nothing is melting but that should not happen at such a low temp. it will be hot wen you pull it out of the oven and try to manhandle it to get the lens off. just be tenacious and keep pulling/lightly prying with something not sharp. to seal heat it back up and just press it back together. it seems to seal perfectly but just to be safe i put a thin strip of black duct tape all the way around the seals. better safe than sorry cuz i really would not want to do it again if it leaked. mine survived hurricane irene 2 days later and have been 100% dry and sealed and BEAUTIFUL so i recommend duct tape to be safe. these angels are stunning and get so many looks and compliments. i believe they are identical to OSS rings and can really take your breath away

step 1: ORDER THE KIT and wait very impatiently

amazing price, and somewhat customizable. while i was waiting for these, i learned from another member that you cannot reuse your bulb holders on the stock headlights, and have to order the euro holders separately, p/n 63 11 7 159 570. Nick@jlevi says they are working on obtaining these, so i doubt it'll be a problem in the near future. My buddy already ordered me some from his shop, should have them by tonight. As for error cancellers, I hear that it varies from car to car, but 2006 is the most problematic but i'll try it out and order them if needed. if anyone can direct me to the best HID error canceller id appreciate it.

step 2: OPEN THE BOX

this was an exciting time. you can IMMEDIATELY tell how high quality these babies are. considering these clear out the ambers, have angel eyes, and are XENONS with ballasts, $409 is a complete steal.
packaged well, arrived about 10 days after I ordered them.

ITS GO TIME

step 3: REMOVE FRONT BUMPER

First thing is to remove the 4 torx t30 screws along the top of the bumper





Remove 2 screws along the inside of the wheel well, and 8 or so running underneath the bumper.






(yes i know its hideously scratched, purchased from a female driver )

If you have headlight washers, gently pry them out with a flathead screwdriver wrapped in a towel, and carefully slide them forward. remove the washer covers and carefully slide the washer back into the bumper.






With a friend, carefully remove the bumper by sliding it forward. when there is enough room, unplug the fog lights and put the bumper somewhere safe.








Step 4: Remove headlights

These headlights are held in by brackets, so you must remove the headlights with the brackets attached, and separate them once they are out.

Remove the 5 screws holding in the headlight/bracket

The first two are on top of the headlight and are very obvious. there are two along the kidney grills



and one bastard on the side




If you have headlight washers, remove the hoses attached to the sprayer and dislodge the sprayer from the headlight bracket




Unclip the headlight harness. you should be able to remove the headlight with the housing and replace the headlight with the depo unit


Your headlights should look something like this:





Step 5: HID time


Reinstall all bulbs. Here you can see the difference in the bulb holders. White is euro. just reuse your current turn signal bulb.



If you need high beams for the depos, just reuse the halogens from your stock housing. Remove the back cover and insert the bulb into the plug. It is held in place by two metal clips



Put the headlights in the brackets back on the car. Make sure the ballast and error cancellers are attached. Plug it in to the harness and you are ready for a test run! If everything works congratulate yourself on a job well done and stare in awe at the infinite brightness of xenons.

Reverse the process to put everything back together and last but not least

step 6: ENJOY!!!!

Nice. I wasn't aware DEPO had stuff for the E90 like that. I had a pair of xenon projectors from them back in my E36 days. They actually weren't bad; the cutoff wasn't very clean, but they fit right and functioned correctly.

I am confused...

Are you doing this because your car did not have OEM xenons HIDs or because those perform better than the OEM xenons?

I must say that my stock xenons work fantastic and I even like my OEM angel eyes. They fit perfectly on a Crimson Red exterior.

yes i'm replacing stock halogens. oem xenons are awesome except for the amber. ideally i'd like euro spec xenons or lci halogens (biggest AE rings)

there is a chance i'll crank through the night after work to try and get these installed, i really cant wait till monday. my only concern is if they flicker because the error canceler doesnt arrive for a few days. either way i'll make sure its well lit with great pics - my friend just got a canon t1i, 15mp and hd video so we'll put it to good use

i really wasnt expecting it to happen but they are INSTALLED took from about 10pm to 130am but its DONE and i can honestly say i could not be happier with my life right now as a result of how awesome they are. i finally have XENONS AGAIN! and ANGEL EYES!!!! halogen owners BUY THIS KIT. the quality is through the roof.

i'm really tired from the effort but have over 170 pics and 4 hd vids taken from install. i think i am the first e90 post member prob even first USA person to install these! as promised my friend had the euro bulb holders took only 48 hrs so this kit ready to roll.

the only downside is that i got some pretty bad flickering which i was expecting, but once i receive my error cancelers in a few days, that should be no prob. i had to drive home with just the ambers and angel eyes, but even that output more than enough light to drive home. a cop even drove past me and i pulled out and had to drive behind him and he didnt pull me over (thank god). every few mins id turn on the xenons and they would literally turn the night road into day with an astonishing pure white light, but only for a few moments before they started flickering.

i ramble, but i'm 110% so incredibly satisfied with my money these are fully oem quality and if any halogen owner doesnt buy it your straight up DUMB. will post massive write up with tons of pics asap

Good news all around. Glad this will be a good solution for those with halogens.. I dont think I can ever go back after having xenons on 2 cars..
