Trying to sort out P013E & P013A codes after VRSF downpipe & DP fix install
I've been getting a persistent SES light after installing my VRSF catless downpipe and DP fix. According to VRSF, their DP fix is similar to the Area 74 CatSim. I've pulled the codes and am getting the following codes:
P013A - Rear Oxygen Sensor Slow Response Rich to Lean Bank 1 Sensor 2 P013E - Rear Oxygen Sensor Delayed Response Rich to Lean Bank 1 Sensor 2 Whenever I clear the codes they come back pretty quickly. I'm not sure if this is related to the VRSF DP fix itself, or if something got messed up with my oxygen sensors during the install. Anyone able to help? I have the PPK flash but no Cobb or JB4. My original plan was to use the DP fix and PPK flash for a while before going for a more aggressive tune.
I'm also working with VRSF but wanted to see if anyone here had any insight. I'm going to try completing a drive cycle to see if the ECU learns the O2 sensor signal, and if I still get these codes I'm going to disconnect the DP fix and see if it removes these codes and replaces it with the usual P0420 catalyst code that you tend to see with a catless downpipe. Honestly though since I don't have emissions testing where I live, I'm considering doing without the DP fix and just running auto clear on a JB4. |

Just from the wording of the codes naming the "delayed/slow response," I would have to say the problem lies within the cat sim that was installed. Maybe the signals that it's sending aren't working as fast as the real time updates from the O2 sensor itself. But that's just a guess.
You seem to have the right idea though. Give it a little time and see if they get used to each other. Personally I've learned to just live with the SES light. I check the faults from time to time to make sure no other problems come up, but I have no emissions testing here either so I don't worry about it. My last car lit up like a Christmas tree on the cluster but ran like a top |

If you run a dp fix for an extended period of time it will begin to mess with your afr which can cause you to run lean. It's meant to only be used before emissions. Also the dp fix is for the n54 engines not the n55
|

the sensors are very sensitive. the install is straight forward and simple. done correctly and by the book i've never had any issues. i'll see what i can find out. u running e85 by chance?

the fix is meant to be run not just to delete the DP light but to stop people from running auto clear which is what everyone does.
running the dp fix and turning off autoclear lets you know how your cars really been running the whole time. now we can see what we always thought was a healthy car...........may not have been.

My big question mark here is if the VRSF and Area N55 DP fixes are actually the same. When I ordered the VRSF one, I kinda had forgotten about the Area one. Since there's no emissions testing where I live, my main concern is keeping the SES light from coming on all the time. I'm still tempted to just remove the thing and run a Cobb Stage 2+ map since I'm FBO (well, stock exhaust after the DP but everything else). I think the Cobb Stage 2 maps block the usual downpipe-related codes from turning on the SES light while allowing the rest of them to still come through, but I'm waiting for confirmation on this from Cobb. |

Today I had a thought: I've been using Torque Pro and a BAFX bluetooth OBD dongle to clear codes. Maybe it's not fully clearing everything that needs to be cleared in order to keep the SES light away.
I figured just to be sure I'd go to Harbor Freight and picked up a mid-level OBD scanner from them rather than rely on Torque Pro. The Harbor Freight on my way home from work didn't have the scanner I wanted, but the one on the other side of town did. So I went to the farther-away Harbor Freight, checked codes in the parking lot, and in addition to the P013E and P013A codes, I also got a P2096 (Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean) code that hadn't been showing all the previous times I scanned with Torque. I didn't scan today with Torque so I don't know if that's a new code or one that Torque missed. I didn't have tools handy to disconnect the battery first but figured at least I'd put some drive time in on it. I then drove 18.7 miles home (according to Google Maps). The SES light stayed off the whole time, which is something. I scanned the car with the engine running in my driveway, and had pending (but not stored) P013E and P013A codes. These codes and the P2096 also showed in permanent, but not stored, codes. I don't know if I necessarily completed a full drive cycle because I don't think all the readiness monitors were showing. Here's what I got for readiness: So...I'm going to keep driving it around with no WOT for a while and see if any SES light comes back. Hopefully the problem is that Torque kinda sucks at fully clearing codes compared to a real scanner and this sorted it. We'll see. I'm going to be heading out of town this weekend so I'm going to disconnect the battery, clear codes, and let it idle for a good minute before heading off. That'll be fun since my fiancee hates waiting to leave when we're heading out on a road trip. I'll have to make sure and do the code clearing and idling before she's ready to go. Well, the SES light came back later tonight. So much for the real scanner vs. Torque theory.
I can't remember if I mentioned it already in this thread but the calibration sequence with idling, clearing codes, doing a full drive cycle, etc wasn't exactly followed by my mechanic when he wired up the DP fix. So I'm going to have to disconnect the battery and do the full calibration procedure, that was never done the first time around after install. |

I'm running the PPK flash but no tune i.e. Cobb or JB4. Tomorrow I'm going to disconnect the battery and do the idling and complete a full drive cycle as described in the install instructions. Just have been busy and haven't had a chance to do that process.
