I have driven an M45 as our Infiniti guy is trying to get us out of our G35 lease...the handling still isn't close to my ZHP in my opinion...it is a bigger car though.

Correct.
And BMW will also coincide $1000 rebates on the 335i as soon as they formally announce pricing.

Honestly, I have not focused on the coupe much because I don't care about it but I have heard from several BMW people who would be 'shocked' if the new models will have more than a $700-$1000 price increase over the current models.

Again, nothing set in stone but I personally don't see huge increases coming...the market is just too competitive.

then why all of a sudden are people saying 50,000 for the 335i. personally i dont think anyone has a clue as to how much this car is going to cost but if its even close to being 50k for a nicely equipped one then i would not even consider it at all for my next car.

$50K is a guess at the price increase plus it being fully loaded...shoot, a fully loaded 3er now gets to the mid to upper $40's...my 2003 ZHP cost about $42K...I'm planning on $43K to $44K for a similarly configured E90 335.

I just configured a 2006 330xi with every option and it came back at MSRP of $51,115!!!

i agree, I have never paid msrp much less a "premium" over for the current "hot" car. Also, from some of the comments made about the 335i and or the M3 on this and the bimmerfest site.......there are a lot of "idiots" out there!

The current e90 330i has 14k in options putting it near 50K FULLY loaded. So the e92 or e90 335 even with a modest increase and FULLY loaded can be 50k. Realistically very few people fully load a 3 series with Sport, Premium, Active Steering, Active Cruise, Nav, Step, Cold Weather, etc.

Im in the same boat for 50K you can ge into a Corvette. I was so ready for the 335i saloon, now not so sure. I know that the 335 will be an awesome car but for the same price or a couple k less one get into an awesome 400HP monster. With that said I went to test drive a new Z51 equipped Vette. Power was really nice, and I had everyone just look at me when I drove it, kind of weird. Consequently when I drive my Bimmer no body looks at it, which is fine as well. Soo the test drive went well, and now its either a Vette or 335i sedan. One note the feeling and smoothness of my 530 versus the monster V8 made the Vette feel very spartan. Worlds apart obviously. I know if I get the Vette I will regret it in some form. But if I get the 335i I may never opt for a vette again for a great deal of time. Time will tell on this one.

may be we should be comparing apple to apple , 335i can be compared to the 2007 facelift CLK500 with the new S-class V8 388hp DOHC and 7G Tronic. The 2-ton S-class is already making 5.4s with this V8 engine, so the new CLK500 will make 4.9s easily! Yes, BMW fans only drives BMW, not a doubt. However, not to admit there is no replacement for displacement.
I also heard these days you can get C55 AMG for 55K fully loaded in USA.

Where can we find that deal? Its more like a base model C55 AMG with no options for around 55k.

The S4 is a very nice car- l looked at it very seriously as a possible option vs. the 335. The quattro would be an advantage for me in WA state. One cost associated with the S4 I didn't expect initially is the "Gas Guzzler Tax" (at least in WA) of $1300 per vehicle. That V8 is thirsty!

My friend has a 2006 Vette and the one thing good I can say after I drove it, is that it has power. Other than that, it drives like a truck..heavy road feel and hard shifting. Although it is an improvement over his 1998 Vette, it's still a GM POS and will find it's time at the dealer for things that just should not go wrong with a $50,000 vehicle. No "bargain" in my opinion... Just my $.02..

may be you are right. 55K , but not sure if it is 'no options' or with some. Unlike BMW, for an AMG, most features are quite standard or not too important (e.g. mobile phone) except the Command. There is no such thing called 'Sport package' on an AMG though.
You can check out this thread in mbworld about C55 USA prices.

Thanks for the replies guy. I guess mostly, when I added it up (expecting 40-42k base, 3-5k in options, 4-5k in tax/tag/license = 50k out the door), that 50k number threw me a little. Not so much just the number of 50k, as it is that "okay, I'm paying $50,000.00, for a 3-SERIES?!??! A 3-Series." I think that was/is my initial concern. It just seems, that for 50k+, you're still buying "just a 3-series", you know? The lowest level model bmw even sells in the US (not counting like the Z4 etc).

Dont get me wrong, I love the 335i design and everything, and am a big BMW fan and a BMW CCA member and have owned 3 BMW's and currently own one, but I sort of wonder if this isnt a lot of money for what you get. It seems like for 50k, you could buy a 545i or 550i, just a couple years ago or so. I wouldnt want a 5 series as they are too big and heavy and to me scream "family car" (and am not much of a fan of the new design on them), but still, its a 5-series for that kind of money, you know?

I considered the CTS-V, but that was somewhat shortlived. The caddy had lots of problems with the differential and a huge wheel hop problem. To be honest, if the Acura RL had more power and was faster, I probably would have bought that instead of putting down my down payment on the 335i. The RL is great with some pretty amazing technology, but its just flat out slow (0-60 in 6.7 sec). However they have great deals on them, you can get one fully loaded for 41k as they arent selling well. I'd consider the S4 too, but its pretty heavy and I really dont want a sedan (unless its the RS4, but thats too far above what I would be willing to spend on a depreciating asset like a car). M45 Sport was an option, but I dont want a sedan (single, no kids to worry about toting around).

I guess I was getting to the point of "well, if I'm in 50 grand territory now, should I suck it up, pay 5k more or maybe 8k more, and get something even better?" I guess I just think of the lowest model BMW sells in the US, the 3-series, as being 50k out the door. I mean, it is, but it just seems like for 50k, you'd be getting a little more value or something. *shrug*

I'm sure I'm still 90% likely going with the 335i coupe, unless someone gives me some incredible alternative I forgot about, but man when I starting thinking "50k for a 3-series out the door?!??!?!", that rattled me a little. Not the cost, but the cost for what you get.
