JB4 tune kit

Ideas & intelligent input regarding Burger's JB4 tune kit.
Seems complete and not too radical.

If you want to go Piggyback vs. Flash only and stay stock turbo, its a solid deal from a trusted company and will net you ~450whp on E40.

If you plan on going flash only tune or are not planning on using E85, then you might want to look at purchasing items separately as you wouldn't need the JB4 and/or pump.

Ahh this again, nothing against BMS as they are a reputable company but this kit includes too many things that do nothing to add power, it doesn't even include down pipes which are the best bang for buck mod IMO.

Better off going with MHD a set of down pipes and a quality FMIC. Grab a stage 2 lpfp if you want to run some e85.

I would do your research and buy everything separate.

1) Sticking stock turbos (though might consider a stage 1-type rebuild kit).
2) Sadly, no E85 available here for 1,000 miles.
3) Due to the absence of E85, I'll be running 93 super. No other choice.
4) To be honest, dont really understand the difference between Piggyback vs Flash, I've tried to read some on it, but my thick skull hasn't absorbed it yet.
5) I AM adding a catless downpipe, no question, though not changing the rest of the exhaust. Not interested in making noise.

A better option would be to buy VRSF downpipes and intercooler and install an MHD Stage2+ OTS map.

As already mentioned, there's a lot of crap in that kit that adds nothing.

You're going to need a chargepipe, your stock plastic one will literally blow up under the increased boost. Dual cone intakes help a little bit too but they also add a nice turbo intake sound, they're worth it for the $80-90 cost.

I wouldn't really say this kit includes a lot of stuff that doesn't add power. I wouldn't buy it, but for your typical person looking to run an agressive tune with JB4 and some ethanol, this seems about right. The DCI's probably aren't necessary, though virtually everybody runs them (unless I'm mistaken). And I wouldn't ever pay $400 for a charge pipe (mine was $100 with a BOV and works just fine). The fuel pump upgrade is also unnecessary if you're not adding ethanol. And I haven't had a need to move to colder plugs yet at ~410WHP, but many people recommend this, don't they?

OP, for your application, I don't think this is a good choice. I'd choose:

-Any old cheap metal chargepipe (you can stick with the factory DV setup or use a much cheaper BOV than the one in this kit)
-catless downpipes
-FMIC
-MHD

This setup can be had for ~$800 and would put you ahead of this BMS kit. I would lay off the pump, JB4, plugs and DCI's (unless you like the cosmetic value they bring) for now.

We're about on the same page, thinking wise, I believe.
1) If I could find a cheap downpipe set, I would buy it. That is another thread I made looking for one, used, no responses yet.
2) Def FMIC upgrade.
3) MHD-type flash tune
4) new coil packs/plugs (100k miles on motor)
5) DCI-type intake
6) charge pipe & bov

Again, no ethanol-based fuels here in eastern europe where I'm stationed.
So the best I can do is 93 Super gas.

For a cheap charge pipe I would go with VRSF, I currently have FBO with VRSF and in my opinion good quality and their customer service has been great. Not a huge fan of BOV noise so I went with the stock DV one its $150.

The VRSF intercooler says it does not fit my 2008 335xi coupe.

I have an xi as well. Definitely harder to find cheap downpipes for it. I bought this one and it worked fine:

OK, so being stuck with gas and no access to any E-fuels, what about meth kits?
If I were to get the MHD flash tune, would that still work with a meth kit?
Or with stock turbos am I looking for too much and a meth kit isnt necessary??

Yes you can run a meth kit along with MHD and stock turbos.
What are your power goals?

240WHP would be a bit low for stock power but you'd want Full Bolt Ons to achieve your goals. We have a Full Bolt on Packages that may fit your needs and include the JB4. Tune Intake Downpipe FMIC and Charge Pipe

My FBO xi made 362 AWHP on MHD's 95 octane 2+ tune. When I switched to E40 and ran a free tune from RFP, power bumped up to 410 AWHP. Of course, these numbers are as measured by Virtual Dyno, so take them with a little grain of salt.

Appreciate that.
What I'm in the present process of buying and waiting for shipment:
1) DCI (already bought)
2) charge pipe (trying to buy now)
3) BOV tial (buying now)
4) catless downpipes (buying now)
5) 5" frsf intercooler (buing now)
6) MHD (will buy)
7) new coil packs & plugs (1 cooler) (already bought).

From these, I hope to have 350+ AWHP on OEM turbos

What about a fuel pump upgrade for the E40 or any E fuels??

your site isnt very user-friendly, IMHO
If you would like to PM an actual URL for this kit of yours, I'd be happy to look at it and consider it.

Yeah, that list is basically what I've done. I haven't upgraded my fuel pump yet. Not really planning on it, though I've only been running higher ethanol mixes for a couple months. We'll see what happens...
