Get the most out of OEM Underseat Woofers
I have installed Focal 100 VRS components in the front and a 10inch JL Audio Sub in the trunk but am currently using the OEM underseat subs at the moment. All are being powered by JL Audio XD700/5.
Can anyone suggest the best settings on the amp in order for me to get the best out of the OEM woofers until I upgrade to something else? I currently have the underseat woofers bandpassed on channels 3/4 (highpass is around 200, and lowpass is 80). Also, I have the gain set close to minimum (around 8 o'clock). I currently do not have a voltmeter so I can't set the gain according to the JL Audio manual. Thanks, |

The underseats are not subs. They are woofers. Subwoofers play 50 cycles and below. These need to play much higher to meet the 4" mid. They really don't play sub-bass.
I think you have your settings reversed. Your highpass needs to be around 50, and your lowpass needs to be around 200. Ignore the manual. Turn it until it sounds good. Your risk is that you might blow those stock HiFi woofers, of course. |

I have my underseat woofers externally amp'd as well and haven't had any problems with them so far.
Lowpassed around 160hz and high passed around 60hz. |
