Car Seat

I've done a few searches but haven't come up with anything useful...I wondering what people out there use as a car seat in their 3 series. I have a 10 month old who has been in the car seat that comes with the stroller, but he's out growing that one so we've been looking at "convertible" car seats. The one my wife has is this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o02_s00_i00.
It's not a problem in her car because she has a Pilot, but in my tiny backseat, I'll need to find something that will fit rear facing but be able to convert to forward facing when he's ready. So long story short, what "convertible" car seats are others using in the back of the 3 series?

Here is what I'm using for our twin boys, mind you I never used them rear facing and hardly ever use this car to transport them. The 3 series is unfortunately a little tight in the rear for car seats, but it works for when they want to go for a tour in my car.

Do a search on Bimmerfest; there have been a number of threads about this.

I had to use the yellow pages to fill the incline of the benchseat with all the childseats I tried. Apparently most childseats are designed for flat (not inclined) benchseats, and it was impossible to level the seat without this trick.

I have the "Alpha Deluxe Echelon" brand seat. It is a little difficult to install, but fits very well once installed properly. It also fit when reverse facing, but the front seat must be set for a "small" person, 6 feeters will not be able to seat at the same time.

Another good trick is to use kitchen grip liner in the color of your seats. Super cheap, protects much better than most expensive seat protections.

I am curious as well. My father in law just ordered a Ricaro for his fiver. Will test it in the 3 soon.

We have a Britax for our younger daughter: http://www.britaxusa.com/car-seats/highway-65

Britax is likely the best seat you can buy. They just fit so well, and are super easy to adjust. The one I linked can do rear facing which you'll need - although it's going to be pretty tight in a 3 series with it rear facing. You'll have to do it on the passenger side and keep the passenger seat moved forward a bit.

I am going to buy one of these this week: http://www.britaxusa.com/car-seats/parkway-sg
She is getting a bit big for the other seat now that she's 4.

We have an Evenflo for my 6 year old son (he's too light for a booster still). It's terrible. I wouldn't recommend one to anyone. The Latch system on it is just junk and is super hard to tighten.

Check out Britax. They are a bit more money, but your kids are worth it!

My kids have outgrown convertible seats and just about out of boosters too. However, when we were in the thick of it, the Britax Roundabout was our go to seat. Awesome when forward facing, easy to adjust, lots of head support for the sleeping child, great Britax construction, etc. Nver used it rear facing, but if you can make it work till you switch to forward facing, it's a great seat.

Thanks for the replies. I'll look up some of these seats and see if I can do a test fit at the store before I buy one. I agree, the extra money is definitely worth it. And my wife told me posting about car seats was a dumb idea...thanks again.

I picked up a Britax Parkway SGL today (http://www.britaxusa.com/car-seats/parkway-sgl) and I just have to recommend Britax again. What a great seat. I just don't understand why other companies don't seem to think the LATCH system needs to be tight! The Britax - two clicks, one pull, and it's rock solid. The seat comes out in about 5 seconds. Just great engineering.

Luckily when they are rear facing, they just sleep all the time

Well, I bought them from Canadian Tire, not honestly sure where you would get them in the States. I will have to check who the manufacturer is and get back to you.

Here is what I own:
http://www.amazon.com/Clek-Oobr-Boos...oober+car+seat

http://www.clekinc.com/oobr/

This is one of the best seats on the market.
Not for a 1 year old. They need to be a little older.
