Did anyone have rubbing issues with their OEM wheels? I have the premium wheels for the time being and want to make sure spacers are needed for the install...

So after some more driving time on these coils I think i might have to stiffen up the rears.

I'm at 2 turns to soft both front and rear. (2.5 is max full soft)
19x8.5Front ET30
19x10Rear ET37

The front feels great. bumps etc.. feels close to stock if not a little even with my 19" wheels. The rear feels a little bounce when hitting dips on the highway but its fine with two people in the car. I had 5 in the car this past weekend for a long drive (tucking half the rear tire!) and on high speed dips the car sorta feels like it dips down, up and down before it settles back to its normal position. With 5 people in the car all about 140-160lbs would stiffening up the rear struts help or what about raising up the rear? Right now with nobody sitting in the car I have about quarter inch gap in the front wheels and the rear fenders is right at the top of the rear tire with no gap. Stance looks perfect but once i have rear passengers I start tucking half the rear tire in the back.

I don't want to raise the car too much nor do i want to firm up the shocks to the point where it rides too stiff when i don't have passengers in the car. Suggestions?

Alan

yes, 2 turs is too bouncy, 1 3/4, it will stop the bouncines but stilll be soft.
you can remove shocks with out dropping the suspension.

I'll try to adjust it this weekend.

When we remove the shock, wouldn't the spring and perch just pop out? Last I remember the shock is what holds everything together. Also if I only removed the lower part of the shock but not touch the top, shouldn't I be able to compress the shock upwards and adjust the dampening?

Yes I would like to know if the rear can be adjusted from just removing the lower parts, but I have a feeling the answer is probablyu not

Nope, you can remove just the shock nothing else so alingment stays intact. I have done this many times and can do it in about 1 hour now
here is how http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27474

Think our question is do we have to remove the entire shock to adjust or can we just undo the bottom part of the strut, compress the shock up and turn to adjust....

Thanks for all your help!

It is the easiest way to do it. just remove the top screw and botom screw and compress it until it comes out, once out it is easy to adjust with presission.

I tried to just unscrew the bottom and compress upward but i could not do it, the shock must be fully compress before turning and that is almost imposible to do with the bompstops and shield.

Ah got it. Completely forgot about the bump stop being there. I was trying to avoid working inside of the trunk. Is this a one man job or two?

one man, make sure you get a set of torx, you will need a 30to hold top of strud while you lose top nut.

i just installed my FK siliverline plus X coilovers on my E92..
the ride seems very bouncy..
I have the front set at 1 full turn from firm and 1.75 turns on the back.. do you turn the shockbody for the clockwise or do I turn the rod to determine direction?

When i did mines...we clamped down the shiny rod, compressed the yellow shock tube all the way down and turned it. My installer said you can feel the click when you are doing it right.

When you say bouncy....do you mean the suspension moves up and down like a floaty caddy? Setting it up too firm could give you the bouncing feeling too but much faster rebound.

I never got any spray on my coilovers from SPP either. Am I suppose to?

its not floaty feeling.. just too bouncy, almost annoying

according to the website and the pictures I seen of the set... it is suppose to come with the spray to protect the threads..

Can you give me the measuremtents front and rear of the center of the fender opening to the ground? I want to see how low I have mine to yours.. I think I need to lower the front about 1/2" more

Which way did you turn the shock body and how many turns?

See this for adjustment information
http://www.koni-na.com/adjustment.cfm

clockwise = softer
counter clockwise = firmer

What we did was turned it all the way clockwise to full soft (2.5 turns) until it stops, then back out how many turns you want to firm it up. My front is basically at 2 turns max soft so half turn back. Rear i believe i'm at 1 full turn back from full soft.

I won't get to my car for the next week or so since i'm away but you can look at this picture to see how my car sits. My rear is pretty much tucking 2-3mm of the top tire and my front has maybe a 1 finger gap.

I am currently at 1.25 turns from soft..
