considering a custom radio, what do you have?

I want something nice like a double din, but dont want it to look cheap. Maybe a touch screen with build in computer? idk, any ideas? custom harness or custom faceplate ideas? any for sale? Show me pics! Give me ideas wonderful people of E90post!

Whatever you do - stay away from the Dynavin and Eonon supposed custom BMW HU - they are both a large pile of junk

Buy a quality HU like Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, etc. - and yes, it's not just a simple swap with our cars - one thing is that if you want to retain full functionality of your car, & the ability to have the dealer upgrade your software - you will need to retain the oem radio wired in, somewhere in the car (like in the trunk)

Best to do some reading on threads posted by CTuna to see exactly what you're getting in to...

Any double din i see in there looks cheap as hell, was hoping to see some custom ideas out there. Guess i'll have to make something myself :/..

Technic harness, 500W amp, and enclosed sub in the trunk and you will be amazed at the difference.

I put in a clarion nx501 double din HU, kenwood 500w four channel and 1000w sub amp and 1 12" sub. Haven't had any problems what so ever. If I ever do need a software update it's 30 min job to switch out the head unit.

I like the sound, ihave the logic system sounds great, just not the look. And my bluetooth only does calls not audio

If you just want to add functions to the radio
Dension gateway 500 s bt with give you usb /ipod and a2dp wireless
music streaming.
With and L7 system if you change the head unit you have to change the
amp to and then you have to decide which speakers to change and or power.
Its a major project in terms of cost , time and complexity .

Making a custom bezel would be a good 3d printer project .
