Non run fllat spare tire options

I have ordered M6 reps with General UHPs. What are the best options for spare tire or flat tire repair?? I assume the mobility kit. Will OEM 189s fit in the trunk compartment (tucked away) as a spare? I would hate to simply place it in the trunk as cargo! Anybody with novel ideas?

THX

Did you have to buy the $65 lug/spacer adapter for the E92 listed as well?

The mobility kit is a decent option. It allows you to patch the tire up enough to get to the nearest tire shop where you can get it fully repaired. Eliminates the need for a jack, and spare and whatnot.

The problems with mobility kits are:
-they don't fix big holes in sidewall and you will be stuck in situ
-some tire shops won't touch tires with the mobility goop-it's smelly and messy
-if too much goop is needed, the tire may not be cleanable and you may need to replace it.

And usually the latex sealant used in most fix-a-flat / m-mobility kits will kill your tire pressure monitor sensors. However, many people can see that as an easily and somewhat cheap replaceable part.

Anyone know the answer to this? Is there a spare tire area in the trunk like in the older 3 series, or did they remove it because of the new RFT?

Spare tire

Forget about getting a spare tire. Get AAA coverage and get the maximum tow coverage which should be at least 150 miles. If you have a flat, then call to have your car towed to a national tire shop. All the spare tire will do is hog your trunk space. I know this as I purchased a full sized spare after getting rid of those horrible run-flat tires. I left the full sized spare in my trunk for about 2 weeks until I realized how ridiculous it is to give up all your trunk space.

BMW should wake up and make it an option to purchase a vehicle with regular tires with a spare in the trunk! However, as anyone knows who has gotten into a warranty issue with them, BMW will never admit they are wrong. The same goes for I-drive!!!

well on the new 3 series half the spare tire spot is used by something (too lazy to take a pic) so u cant fit anything in there... at ALL!!! i wish they had that spot free up so i can actually put the spare tires underneath the false floor.

Will that spare from Leatherz.com work with 18" wheels? I'm not sure if it's OK to run a 17" spare with 18" wheels.

Thanks,

For those getting non-RFT, I don't understand why there is a concern about messing up the TPMS. Many people seem concerned about this.

Once you have a non-RFT, then leak/flat detection is old school, correct -- see that it goes flat. What am I missing?

No, you can still use the TPMS sensors with non run-flat tires.

You can, but not too fruitful, especially with the system in our cars. It doesn't give you an actual tire pressure number so it isn't necessary to run it with regular tires. When it's flat, you'll know it's flat just by the way the car is driving, or how it sits. Unless you're my mother... she wouldn't know if all 4 tires are flat.

Maybe you were commenting on a different question, but my question was why does anyone care about TPMS with non RFTs. To me, TPMS is moot, even if you can still use them.

I didn't see anyone say this, but maybe the concern with messing up TPMS (e.g., using fixitflat) is that one cannot turn off the system if it gives continuous annoying message.
