Methanol injection question

For those guys who have installed meth where did you put the tank? I'd prefer to keep the tank up front as opposed to the trunk. Just wondering where everyone ended up putting their tanks.

I will eventually install meth injection to my car, but from what I've heard it is highly suggested to be installed in the trunk. Unless you are going to gut out your interior, there is not really any room to put in the tank since it holds about 1-2 gallons of Methanol plus the kit(pump); it's tight as it is already. Good luck with your findings.

That's what I'm thinking. Things are tight under the hood. I really don't want a tank sitting in the trunk though. I'm thinking of using the wind shield washer reservoir as the tank.

A little bit of high strength velcro and it holds like a champ.

Use the washer reservoir. Saves from running lines from the trunk. Also alerts you when your running low. Looks pretty close to stock.

I did this on my S60R...the only issue is that the 50/50 (or even grater alc. mix) really takes a toll on the wax/paint.

Than the answer to that would be less wipers, more boost

1.1 gallons is not much methanol. Use the washer reservoir if you want to be filling it up all the time. I mounted in the truck and it was really an easy mount.

I wouldnt put any more workload on this washer pump. They are not very robust and are a pain to get to on the E9x.

...have you seen what you have to do to get to the tank? Unless you plan on tapping the fill hole its a pain.

I was trying to locate the tank last night. The fill tube runs down into the passenger side wheel well but I lost it after that.

Yes and there is not much. The plastic tray runs up against the heat shield for the exhuast. You have little to no room under there.

I wonder if you could fit everything in the battery compartment if you converted to a lightweight battery. Maybe one of the meth companies will develop a couple of brackets or a custom tank to make that happen!

Been down that road too. The tooling costs are so high that no one will take on that project. The other side has you amps, but they can be relocated if you want. The consumption of water/methanol really requires you to make put it in an easy to reach location. I strongly suggest getting a 2.5 gallon tank.

I've been watching the Meth threads over at the other site closely, but the tank that most got from Coolingmist can it fit in that cubby on the drivers side of the trunk?

I really liked how Shiv's tank sits in that cubby and doesn't take much room from the rest of the trunk space. At that point the pump can be put anywhere.

that's what i was thinking... don't think there is anything there.... just don't know how would mount/fit... it's an odd shaped tank... and i'd guess that maybe an OEM windshield tank designed for the passenger side wouldn't fit.... (just guessing though)

^ I don't think it will work very well... I thought the only way to remove/replace the windshield washer tank/pump is to remove the fender. Something not many want to do. I'll stick with mounting it in the trunk... Sooo much easier and if there was a problem your not removing body parts to replace pumps, lines etc...

What's the big deal with mounting it in the trunk anyways?
