What's the diff between f & r wear sensors?

Just got my Hawk pads in the mail today, they came with two new wear sensors (yay!) however they appear to be identical but realoem gives two different part numbers for front and rear. What's the difference between the two? Just a slight cable length difference? Or something important? thanks!

I'm just hoping that when I mic the rotors I can turn them... don't really want to have to buy four new rotors this week... but then again it would look nice to not have to look at those rusty hats.

Same here ... I'm not quite sure these will work on our cars though but not confirmed.

I just assumed that the only difference was the length when I replaced mine last August. Brakes haven't exploded on me yet.

the cable length is different, and the actual plugs are slightly different from front to rear.

Well I finally got some lift time @ my friend's shop on Thursday... good thing I was there and not in the driveway because a) I had to order the rear sensor; the one with the Hawk pads was way too short (if I'd spliced the wires to the old connector it might have been OK but for $22 or whatever I'll do it right) and b) got caught in the worst rain I've ever driven in coming home; glad I was driving & not working outside!

Hmmm, thanks for pointing that out, I wondered the same thing when I looked at the HPS brake sensors if they were unique for fr/rr. Never bothered to compare against my OEM ones until now, since I'm not due for pads for a while. Glad I kept my OEM sensors.

For anyone that's wondering, here is a photo of the HPS sensors (top) vs OEM. Note the longer OEM rear sensor.

Thanks for that, I didn't think to keep the old ones and just chucked them in the trash can so no pics from me. Hopefully that will prepare someone.

Other things I learned:

1) you can't put a 335i coupe on a Rotary two post lift without some pieces of 2x8 to drive up on. Even the previous gen Z28 that one of the mechanics drives will get on the lift fine, but my 335 will not without a little assist.

2) Apparently although the dealership is awful proud of their mechanics, they're not as careful as I am. I found the cover of the little box that holds the rear sensor connection missing and the connector not clipped in properly. I know that the brake job that I did is the first one that wasn't done at the dealership. This makes me a little angry as I'd expect that from a "brake job $59.99 per axle" shop but not one with $150/hour labor rates.
