Will the MSV7.0 support it though? I would prefer a different engine management solution but right now I'm not inclined to switch to a standalone. I don't like the absence of airflow measurement with running Alpha-N.
I'm probably going to put further mods on hold for the winter and in the spring at least relocate the temp sensor and get the car tuned. |

So I feel really good about this last revision. I think we're there. Drivability is phenomenal, car acts like NA daily during cruising. Very responsive above 4K, I haven't noticed any trans slips so feel there's more there with E tune and meth, possibly smaller pulley. Here's a video of a 0-100 run (up hill slightly). I have an e50 tune and full E tune I'll install after dyno.

Quick update. Tune is still spectacular, however in the last week i noticed what was a loud bearing sound coming from the SC. I changed the oil when I changed oil 1500 miles ago, but sure enough no oil in the SC at all. Filled an entire bottle and registered full. One week later, same sound, looked and half empty. I have no oil anywhere externally so I assume bad bearing and leaking internally sending into the intake. Emailed Vortech to see if they have any opinion. 🤦*♂️

My Vortech weeps a bit at the venting plug if I drive the car real hard and perhaps a tiny bit at the shaft seal, nothing too serious. I have never went through a bottle in 1500 miles.

1. The Venting plug As above photo. The Venting plug has a breather on side which is designed to release excessive pressure within the unit. You can see some red supercharger oil on it, I was told this is normal. 2. The Vortech gear chatter Check the video about the chatter noise on my Vortech. It sounds like this at idle since purchase, the noise goes away above 2000rpm. 3. If you read my post you know that I have replaced the shaft seal before. I bought them here, works well. https://928motorsports.com/parts/pre...haft_seals.php

Does anyone know the filter size on the N52 kit? I thought it used the same one for the S65 kit RU-1785 but it's much bigger. ESS doesn't list it on site at all.

I don't have a current dyno. I was making around 300rwhp and 270ft lb with the kit in it's base form. I'm not sure how accurate those number are, the shop was having some issues with their new dyno when we ran it. I'm running a much smaller pulley and WMI now, once tuning is done I'll hit the dyno again.
Does anyone have any links to documentation on the N52 throttle body and its operating states? Perhaps info on whether it behaves differently when running Alpha-N? Mine is not open all the time and I want to figure out when it's opening and if it's only switching between full open and full closed or if it opens partially at any point. Both myself and another guy who is running the same setup that I am have light vacuum across the RPM range until we go past about 40% throttle. Past the ~40% threshold we've got boost across most of the RPM range, so it is throttle specific. |

I could post stock maps but that would be useless, your tuner would have modified them. On a stock N52 the throttle body is little more than a back up to the VVL. If you are logging throttle closures under load, ask your tuner about them. |

Do you have the stock table for the TB? I'd like to see it if you do. |

On a dynopack I am only making 260 rwhp with the ESS original file (stock car about 225rwhp, you can say it reads low always but number are all just relative). I pit it against my friends' 135i and 335i of various tuning level and the power level is about right. How's your AEM meth injector port holding on the silicon charge pipe? Did it work well?

Yeah, no issues with the charge pipe at all. I've had the nozzles out for swapping in different sizes several times and haven't had any issues with leaks. Using a Devil's Own 90 degree nozzle holder it's a tight fit though due to the depth of the adapter. I installed on for another G1 owner and it's holding up perfectly as well. Anyways, my AEM injector are in order and I am thinking of drilling a small hole on the Vortech exhaust side, wonder if it will work as intended.

You're running the Vortech kit, yeah? Which injectors are you running? It should be fine at the compressor outlet. As close as possible to the head is recommended but as we're not running intercoolers and the intake path is only around a meter I don't think it makes a big deal. The only alternative to get it closer on mine would have been a 6 nozzle setup direct to the runners. EDIT: If you haven't relocated your IAT yet, I really recommend it. What the IAT inside the MAF reports from before the SC is VERY different then what's actually entering the engine and when the WMI is running it shifts a lot too. Thanks, will look into the IAT issue. What type of IAT sensor you are using now and where is it relocated to?

It's with a heavy heart I inform my friends that the SC development road has ended for me. With that said, this happened today... engine swap time!

Awesome, congratulations! This is going to be an awesome build. What is the damage to that car?
