Mod 122 - Kics Leggdura Racing black 2 pc closed race nuts

Once technically not a mod because, have had a few sets of race nuts on the car over the years. To be specific a few sets of Motor Sports hardware opened end race nuts.

The only problem with the Motor Sports nuts is they rust up and end up looking skanky

Big call out to DrJ (Shane) for selling me this closed end set

Being two piece, its a bit more work to get the wheels on and off now, but no real hassle. Screw on and torque the tapered wheel nut and then screw the covering cap onto the nut. Done

I'm running 82 mm studs and had to run spacers to get these to fit.

Looks much better then the rusty MS nuts imo

Pic 2 - After
Pic 3 - Front of box in case anyone wants dets
Pic 4 - New nuts (comes with lock and socket for installation)

Helix OD install continued

Support bracket for the Helix arrived a week ago, so finally got around to reinstalling the Helix. Without the support bracket the OD unit and HPFP basically hang off the vac pump. Gyroscopic forces from the spinning parts apparently put all the force on the vac pump, which in my case failed. The new bracket is suppose to stabilize these forces, which makes sense.

You can see from the pics below how much extra length is added with the helix installed, which means we have to extend the HP fuel line. Vince did a great job fabricating these, ready for welding

Pics below

It'll be interesting to hear if your logs show any increased knock activity. That's been one of the things the internet experts have said would happen.

Also, thanks for showing everyone your nuts.

Helix install continued

Pretty wet day in Melb today, but perfect for doing some work on the car

Today's task was to replace the temporary low pressure fuel lines and secure down the flex fuel module

Some careful measurements and a quick trip to speed pro to pick up some parts and within an hour to two, Vince had the old lines out and the new lines in

Including the shortest fuel line ever made, measuring a tiny 52 mm lol

Big thanks to Vince, as always made the job look easy Cheers mate

Pic 3 - Flex fuel sensor bolted to fuel line shield

Yep those speedflow fittings are like $35-$40 each
Quality gear that slides onto the hoses like they're buttered lol
Not like the cheapo ebay fittings

New vac pump arrived from FCP, so rather wait for Spool, we pulled the Helix out and reverted back to stock.

Installing the new vac pump was a pita as was getting the damaged vac pump out.
Some homemade engineering to remove the cover plate (no special tools for us lol) and about 4 hours of stuffing around and the job was done.

The vac pump housing was cracked pretty much 75% around the housing (see pics below)

Big thanks again to Vince for getting spcgry back on the road

Hi socket. Did you remove the fenders, skirts, bumpers, bonnet and boot before spray painting. Since they required prepping and since the inside of the panels are not Space grey, I assumed as much. Removing would have made blending with the doors and 1/4 panels hard. Also, in your post you mention a "colour rectification". What was that about?

Hey Aussie

Yes the panels were off the car when painted, 1/4 panels colour match was spot on so no blending needed

Which post mate? I cant remember in what context "colour rectification" was mentioned sry

Are you planning to install some new panels Aussie?

Socket. I have
the carbon fibre csl style boot lid. It fits really well and lightens the trunk on my E93.
the M3 style front bumper.
The steel M3 style bonnet which is good fit but very soft. It dents very easily.
The M3 style skirts.
Am waiting on Eurosport to respond on the M3 fenders and M style rear bumper.
The car goes on jacks this weekend (got my company car today) for a complete fit up.
I am really still considering a gloss nardo grey wrap. Even thinking about doing it myself. Got a quote of $3500 to get it done.

I have gloss black M4 wheels.

I have a BMS charge pipe, Tial BOV, BMS vacuum adapter on the way from the USA.
I am waiting on my Vrsf downpipes and 5 inch inter cooler to ship at the end of the month.
Car already has BMS DCIs, JB4, MHD BEF and MHD transmission flash.
Still looking for H&R springs.

Currently has some tuning issues. Lots of turbo lag but pulls like hell once the turbos spool. First gear pulls are a disaster and full throttle gear shifts still causing a split second power loss.
My JB4 which runs on my Android head unit shows the WGMS hunting between 30 and 50% at 100koh (10% throttle). The timing is all over the place too.

My favourite thing to do is 2nd gear pulls from standstill. The torque that 16psi gives is amazing and the straight 6 sound is incredible.

Don't get me started.....

Wow that's an solid list of mods you got lined up there Aus

Nardo grey wrap will look amazing, personally I would get it done professionally, while some things can be DIY, IMO there are things that are just a massive pinta and better off paying someone to do (downpipes and body wrap im looking at you lol) That said if you want to have a go I say go hard mate

Not sure whats going on there with the throttle thing there but JB4 and MHD dont always play nice together
I had problems too running both, only ran smooth once I ditched the JB4 and went MHD standalone. I do miss some of the JB4 features but car runs so much better on the MHD

Meanwhile would love to see your ride before you do all the work to it
Feel free to post here if you like, or start a build thread, always good to have a record to look back on

Helix OD hard fuel line

Last part of the install of the Helix OD mod
Have been running the flexible fuel line supplied with the Helix kit for the HP fuel side, it was always a temporary measure, while we extended and purge welded a hard fuel line for the HP side
Ended up buying our own equipment to be able to do purge welding
Vince did a great job of fabricating up a line and installing it

Quick test drive it passed the test (in other words the car didn't go up in flames, which is great)

With the Helix support bracket and all the fuel lines finished, its time to get it on the dyno and finish the tune cant wait

Pics below

Pic 1 - Vince installing extended HP fuel line
Pics 2 & 3 - Bends and curves perfectly
Pic 4 - Fuel line clip (as I said to Vince, its his attention to the little details that makes his work such a quality job )

New Oil Filter Housing and Stock Intake Manifold

While we had the passenger side of the engine pulled apart, we took the opportunity to do some more work.

With the Helix OD unit finished, we no longer need to EOS port injection set up, so out with the EOS and back to a stock intake mani (thanks to the generosity of DRJ... cheers Shane)

Is kind of a reverse mod I guess LOL

Also still having problems with a leaking OFHG
Regular readers will know, that we have ongoing issues, like oil lines blowing off and dropping 5L oil all over the highway, 3 shredded serpentine belts and a range of problems because of this leak

Even got rid of the thermostat and by installing a delete plate, but the slow leak is still there

So today the next volley was fire in the war against the leaky OFHG, by installing a brand new Oil Filter Housing and gaskets !!!

If this doesn't work then we might need to make a custom delete plate or something, regardless the work is not over as we still have to make up some custom hard oil line and install a oil thermostat somewhere near the front mounted oil cooler

Will let you know it the new housing fixes the problem

Pics below

Pic 1 - EOS intake manifold
Pic 2 - Back to a stock intake manifold
Pic 3 - Old oil filter housing and delete plate
Pic 4 - Old housing removed
Pics 5 & 6 - Installing new housing
Pics 7 & 8 - Done
