Cobb Accessport new device, pins pushed in/broken?
I am wondering if anyone else had this problem with their Cobb AP:
At the beginning of November I decided after much reading to purchase a Cobb AP. I went ahead and ordered it from AR Design since they gave me the best price, and I didn't necessarily want to buy one from eBay. As it turns out, when I got the AP, I open the box and see that the 9 pins in bottom connector are not "even". Some were longer than others. I don't pay much attention to that and I connect the cable (the right way), pull it out, and to my horror see that 1 pin is now pushed in 1/2 way in while another two got pushed in significantly as well. And no, none of them were the pin in the corner. I call up AR design the same day, explain what happened, and they tell me I should really deal with Cobb directly with these problems. I found it surprising that they didn't offer to exchange the damaged product and deal with the manufacturer with the issue like a retailer should. Finally I dealt with Cobb directly, I paid for shipping to them and they sent me the "fixed" unit back, which I received yesterday. I plug in the cable to the bottom connector (made absolutely sure I did it correctly and softly), pull the plug out, and AGAIN now only one pin is pushed in 1/2 way. Again not the corner pin. I didn't want to take the risk of testing a possible broken AP on my car, and also didn't want a unit that will need another repair or stop working a few weeks down the road. So again, yesterday I paid and shipped the unit back to Cobb (this time 2nd day FedEx). Now I'm waiting to hear back, and it's been a month since I ordered my AP. I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem here, because both AR design and Cobb claim this is the first unit that they have seen with this issue. The picture in the box is from the first time I got it, the picture of me holding it is from when I got it the second time and plugged the cable once. Last edited by tphss; 12-05-2012 at 06:43 PM.. Really sorry to hear about your problem. This is definitely not common, but I know it's no fun to be without something you just bought. Send me an email with your info and let me know who you talked to (if you remember) so I can have them send me any notes.

Notice how there was no insinuations that it was the customers fault

Are you reimbursed for shipping too? I know with warranty claims shipping its on the customer but this looks to be a defect (rare one at that)
