Programming Status 12...Need help
Hi All,
I have an e90 with MSV80 dme. I tried updating the DME today with a server based PSU hooked up externally and with WinKFP (v68 daten). I was using bimmergeeks pro cable. WinKFP errored out complaining about security access issue (apologies I forgot to take a picture or note down the exact error ). Now the DME is showing up red in ista-d and WinKFP is not able to communicate with the DME either. Inpa says for DME: 12 DME/DDE OKAY 12 Programm nicht vorhanden oder nicht vollständig (program not present or incomplete) 12 DME/DDE OKAY MSV80 D_MOTOR ˙˙˙****** 4D57 0000 0 00 255.255.255 255.255.255 255.255 What did I do wrong? Thank you guys for your replies! I think there were two issues:
1- I might have left the ignition off the first time (big mistake!) 2- I manually selected the ZUSB number that I wanted to upgrade to. After doing these two things, the flash successfully took place with DCAN cable. |

yeah, the weird thing about flashing - if you leave the ignition off, it will happily erase DME, but it will not flash it! makes no sense, but you're not the first person I've heard of that didn't know that, so don't feel bad. it's not exactly obvious.
The good thing is the boot sector (which actually handles base level communications/flashing) is never erased or overwritten, so unless you get a "hard crash" with corrupted data or something, it's nearly impossible to permanently brick. |
