Seatbelt + Airbag Lights Take 2!

Hi all - just been advised to put this here instead of the Electronics board:

Hi all! It's my first time posting, but I've read many posts here for a couple of months now.

I've just bought a 2007 320i relatively cheaply as there were several warning lights and the previous owner was leaving the country.

Shortly before I bought the car the previous owner replaced the driver and front passengers' seats - leaving warning lights for airbag and seatbelts.

I got a seat pad emulator and belt resistor kit from eBay (item number 161243290242) and installed it (thanks to very good instructions in the item description). My friend owns a garage so I took it to him and he cleared the codes, and success - no more codes for the passenger seat, just leaving a belt tensioner code on the drivers' side. I bought the same kit again (I knew I wouldn't need the emulator, but figured it'd be worth it if the resistor did the trick), installed it, and went back to his garage.

It still has the code for the drivers' belt tensioner, and warning lights for the airbag and seatbelt.

If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it! I've looked at dozens of posts here and elsewhere, but can't seem to find anything that's confirmed to work, short of taking it to BMW and paying a fortune!

Are the seat belt buckles the same height? I bet your drivers one is lower than the pass side. If so, it has been blown and needs to be replaced. It can be removed from the original seat or purchased cheap from ebay. Then reset codes again to turn off the lights on the dash.

When I replaced my seats, the drivers side buckle was blown in the accident that sent the donor car to the junk yard.

Thank you, I'll look into that!

As I fitted a resistor I thought that wouldn't come into it, but I suppose there are two other wires that must control that.

I shall report back with my findings!

Thank you smassey321 - I wasn't aware this was even a thing!

Can see that the driver's tensioner is lower than the passenger's and can feel that it's compressed compared to images of uncompressed ones!

I'll order a replacement at the end of the month, get the codes reset (for hopefully a final time), and report back!

Thank you smassey321 - bought a used but good condition replacement, installed it, and had the codes removed today!

I had no idea there was meant to be a clock on the dash normally - it was always warning icons!
