So should I just put it on or wait??

Thank you to all who have posted on this thread!!!
Install the manifold and get the 330 tune from Bimmerlabs for free. get a full featured tune from BPC or AA later when you can. You will enjoy the Bimmerlabs 330 tune until then.

How do you guys find these intakes?

Hey guys. First poster here. I am a ebay-test-pilot and I most recently installed the MERTOP ebay-specials supersprint headers.

My question is this, how do you guys get these the intake? calling junk dealers constantly and hopefully beating the next guy to it seems like the best option.

Also, does the 538i Have the DISA style intake?

Thanks in advance

I got mine from an auto parts yard as you mention. I specifically asked for the intake manifold for a SULEV N51 engine. They looked it up, found a nearby yard with a 2009 328i SULEV, ordered it up with "all accessories attached", and a few days later it arrived with both DISA valves.
528i SULEV will have the same 3IM as a 328i SULEV.

538i doesn't exist, so I'm guessing you meant 528i

How did the headers install? Did they fit?
I thought there was some problems with fitting?

Hello everyone, I went ahead and began to install the 3IM on my 128 (N52) and when I tested the big and small DISA valves through INPA, the big valve clearly was moving only a small amount and the small valve was opening and closing much better. I also had an issue with the CCV hose and it broke as I was trying to get things on so I pretty much had no hose as I put things back together. I had been doing it in a Walmart parking lot since I had no place at my apartment. The car was able to start, but it idles erratically and shuts off and is crazy. Luckily I was able to drive it to the front of my apartment and park it. Is this what to expect with DISA not working properly and the CCV hose off?

I am not sure if I should rebuild the large valves or just go back to stock at this point. I was very much interested in the BimmerLabs tune and had everything ready to go, but now I'm second guessing this. Please help...

You have to fix the CCV hose. Engine is taking in air from the broken CCV hose at the intake manifold, which is after the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. Engine is receiving a lot of air that MAF sensor doesn't know about to tell the computer. And so the computer can't deal with. Hence the crazy idle and engine dying etc.

The DISA valves won't be operating until you do the tuning. At that time you have to address your DISA valve issues too. Right now you cannot expect the engine running fine with the CCV hose broken and leaking in vacuum.

You can try running it with MAF sensor cable removed, engine may behave good that way. I had similar problem during starter replacement and I was able to drive the car fine with MAF disconnected temporarily. But mine is 2006 and different computer. Not sure if your car computer will go into limp mode or not with MAF sensor disconnected.

While waiting to get the replacement hose, for temporary fix you can try to wrap the broken hose with some tape. The idea is to reduce the amount of air that leaks into the intake from outside as much as possible so that the difference MAF sensor tells to the computer than what really goes into the engine is small as much as you can make it.
If you can afford I suggest getting the OEM hose. I have used an aftermarket hose, the length of it was wrong. It fit in the end but was more work and could have broken due to getting too much bent to fit it in.

Interesting how ppl respond so quickly when posted on forums

Again I emailed bimmerlabs TWICE (2) the first one like 2 weeks ago then last night during non working hours.

Your websites states response in 24 hours.

Sorry, I can't seem to find the first email sent through my sent folders. Must have been a glitch.

Hassmaschine has been here for years supporting the community with posted research. Wouldn't go calling the man out here.

I'd also imagine you're emailing them for the FREE 3-stage DISA programming. Did you register?

I swear there was a list of donor vehicles around here that I bookmarked, but I can't find it and I've spent the last 15 minutes searching.
I suck.

there's a 05 X5 i6 NA in the pull a part.
Does it have the manifold I want for my 328 e91?

I'll get caught up today - the last couple weeks have been mostly filled with family activities.

Didn't you just swap in a new motor? or am I thinking of somebody else?
