Well, BMW is too busy to get to it today and Gateway Tire here in Cool Springs closes at 1:00. Anyone have a jack that wants to put some rims on?

Ah dang if I had known I would've helped you out. My jack is in Hendersonville and I'm back in Murfreesboro now. Hope you get them put on soon!

Anybody go to the marathon today? My girl ran the half-marathon so I was blessed to have to wake up at 430 this morning and drive out there. I really enjoyed it though. Those marathoners are pretty hardcore!

It's cool man, I bought a jack from Costco which I used to put the wheels on this afternoon...then I might just return the jack and say I didn't like it

Oh, and the rims are freakin' sweet. I can't get over how good they look on the AW. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I will try to get pics.

You are correct. Definitely looks freakin sweet.

To continue to feed the mod bug... matte black grills, black finishing rods, tint/black amber layovers, black window trim, and possibly black/cf roundels would all tie in the look with the dark rims.

They look great as is, but just a few options to adding to the theme.

1) Finding out pricing on Full Mtech kit or just rear

2) AFE intake, im not sure whether I should go normal or Pro Dry
because I dont know if oiled and non-oiled filters change much.
I have heard if the oiled one is not dried good it can mess up my
MAF/MAP sensor I forget which one its called, but you get me

or

Some other one

Only rear mtech? Why not get the whole thing? The future holds an mtech front for me, but thats going to be way on down the road.
Wish I could help you on the intake, but I don't know a whole lot about them. You decide not to go with GM rep because of fitment issues? Are you considering simota, too?

I think Simota lost a little power when put on or it was the Fujita < or however you spell it. I might do AFE because well even though a good bit of people
had problems with them it was because of user error. I might do Gruppe M because it is best power/closed from elements.

The full Mtech kit is 900$/primed from Tischer, right now im seeing if I can find
one cheaper thats primed already. Mtech will be hottness, Im so tempted to
buy one right now

EDIT: 1100$ because of 200$ shipping or at least im pretty sure its 200$

Well as far as I have heard deleting the Carbon Filter is what makes
most of the power out of the intake. Like 30% of it or something.
I have heard like a few hp at most.

The E60 M5 gains over 13hp with just taking them out though.

I took out my carbon filter, and cut off the intake silencer thing. I'm not too sure it gives legit gains, but it does sound deeper at idle for sure. It did feel like the throttle was more responsive, but it could just be my head. If you haven't done the carbon filter delete and intake silencer delete, go for it. Its really simple.

Volks, what kind of mods can you do to the stock intake to make it better other than taking out the carbon filter? Do you think you could bring out a deeper sound with it?

i actually noticed a gas mileage gain after doing carbon filter. i wouldn't say it was an actual "HP Gain", but it feels more responsive.

And sick rims, TN3 You really need grills blacked out. that would be hot.

The detail didn't happen Sunday.

He came out to my house, said it wasn't 'sunny enough' to see the swirls well, and it was going to rain, so we mutually agreed to postpone. He didn't have halogen lights to work in the garage. He was driving up to Michigan Sunday night, and frankly he didn't seem that interested. I don't think he's ever done any high-end details (Porsche, etc.). Not that the 3-series is really expensive, it's just that I'd like someone with PICUS or F-Minus level experience.

He'll be back from Michigan in a month or so, maybe I'll call him again or maybe I'll go to the dealership 'spa' again, for the exterior detail.

Also, great rims, TN 3.

MTech primed (front, rear, skirts) $1100 shipped from Tischer - don't forget painting and installation. Consider front or rear now, do the other later. Check pricing through BMW Nashville parts - they sometimes have 10% off specials on their website, or your SA (or Volks) may be able to pull some $trings. I bet Volks could help with the install pretty cheaply, if you don't want to DYI or go to a body shop. It came out to ~$1400 total for my MTech rear, through the dealership, painted and installed locally (wife backed into my bumper, if you don't remember. Payed out of pocket, no insurance involved.)

If you decide to get the mtech front, save the install fee and do it yourself. If you can do a LUX install, you can install a bumper. Its really quite easy.
I've never done a rear bumper install, but I'm sure volks would be up to the task!

EDIT: Doing Carbon Filter Removal First

Im tinting my amber right now!!

Yea Im contemplating whether or not to do the Mtech, even though
it makes the car look that much better looking. I might just wait
till someone rear ends or someone hits me, but I really dont see that
happening in the near future so I might just go ahead and order it.

Or an intake.

Yeah, I really want the M-Tech kit, but I just can't drop the dough right now. I think I need to give the modding a rest for a little bit...
