Thanks! I didn't realize that the accepted way to ship was to place cardboard on the face and back of the wheel and use stretch wrap to hold it all together. This makes dimensions a lot easier. Thanks again for your help.

Yup, I've shipped wheel/tire combos a coupe times. Just cut out cardboard circles a little bigger than the rim but smaller than the tire and slap them onto the face and back of the wheel. You dont even need stretch wrap, that stuff can get a little expensive. I just used a few rolls of clear packing tape. Depending on how thick the cardboard is you might have to double up on it. Also, to protect the lip against hazing from rubbing against the cardboard some easy release painter's masking tape helps. You can cut out circular foam packing sheets to help protext the lip as well.

I shipped (4) 18" wheels and tires a few months ago and it cost me around $100, give or take a few bucks. The best way to ship them, or in your case for the seller to ship them, is to just put cardboard on the front and rear of the rim and wrap the entire thing in tape. Offer the seller $100 for shipping, it shouldn't cost any more than that.

It cost me $150 to ship 17's with tires also a couple months ago via FedEx Ground. i use that as my average shipping cost. Wheels alone are about $100.

Hmm ... I have always used UPS ground in the past and I bring the wheels/tires to the shipping center, so I don't get screwed on the price like you do at a UPS store.

Try DHL for shipping wheels/tires. They are a lot cheaper the UPS or FedEx.

+1. I just used DHL to ship two boxes containing two tires each (~50 lbs) and it was about $30/box. FedEx and UPS wanted $50-60/box for the same shipment.

On the other hand, I got raped on the boxes themselves. I got them at the UPS Store, which is extremely proud of their boxes. Paid $30 for two 24" x 24" x 24" boxes. I was in a hurry and I didn't have much choice.
