I wonder if Pete installed BPC tune on it. Not that it would make it M240, but it shouldn’t be a slouch either.

We have an M240i here at the house and I drive a 340i. I’m talking about an M240iR, the Blancpain World Challenge touring car. Which is actually an M235iR with an update kit that didn’t include an engine. Somewhat different animal.

The car does have MILVS, intake manifold, and tune along with headers, hand built exhaust, and whatever else Pete could throw $$ at that wasn’t MOTEC or a proper gearbox. It’s not a powerful car and that’s ok. We’ll run it on the dyno one of these days as we argue with SCCA on it’s competitiveness in STU (it’s got an uphill battle ahead of it as it sits unless I want to spend another $20-30k. And I don’t.)

It has an AA tune, as far as I know. Which is a complete joke of a tune; I posted about it in detail here before, which resulted in veiled threats from AA. They're either incompetent or they ripped Pete off, neither of which is a good thing. It's basically a stock 328i tune with a few bytes changed, the DISAs weren't even programmed properly. No surprise it has no power..

I don't think he ever got around to getting it retuned by BPC before he passed, as it was always in some state of work afterwards.

Brian, been meaning to get back to you, just clearing commitments before taking on anything more.

MILVs tune gets loaded Monday. Ordered an AxiaAlloys 17" panoramic mirror, 2.5" arms, 1.75"dia mount to replace the five panel Wink mirror. If I'd'a asked 'em I woulda known to get this to begin with...

This leaves only state inspection, corner balance and align, oil change, and brake/clutch flush and off it goes to MSRC.

I think he got rid of AA while back. What is unclear if he got MILVS tune installed on it or not.

When I called BPC, they weren’t very forthcoming with what was in the car. They would only tell me that he’d purchased a tune for an N52. Was hoping for a bit bitter.

Wouldn't be surprised if they ask you to buy the tune again. Technically, the tune belonged to Pete and not to the car.

Check with the shop where car was if they have the handheld device which was used to flash the tune. If they have it, then it most likely has tune files on it. It can also read what tune is on there - name of the file. Device is married to the car, unless they go through the trouble to wipe it.

However, given all the mods on the car, it might be the best to do a custom tune and not the off the shelf kind, even thou BPC OTS tune is rather good.

I agree with you that Pete was the owner of the tune. I wasn’t asking BPC to update or continue down the path. I simply wanted to know what’s in the car, such as had it been updated for the MILVS. I offered to send the title and prove ownership due to Pete’s passing. Would have been a great time for them to sell me on their services and maybe a custom option based on my plans for the car. Instead, they were less than confidence inspiring.

The guys at the shop said they loaded what Pete asked them to load when they did the MILVS. Unfortunately, the whereabouts of lots of things that go with the car are unknown. I got 6 wheels, a rad, and a small box of misc bits.

Hey guys,

I bought the car without having a job. Prospects aren’t looking great, so it’s looking like I’m going to take a massive pay cut (and retiring at the ripe old age of 44 isn’t in the cards just yet).

I’m considering selling the car as it sits. It does need a complete fluid change after a shake down day at MSR Cresson a few weeks back. Includes 6 spare wheels - 2 Apex w/ new Toyo’s and the 4 OEM Motorsport logo’d wheels w/ new RFT street tyres. Also included is the stock radiator and a small box of bushings and bits. The belts and chairs have 2+ years left in the FIA certification.

Offering it here first. $38,000 or appropriate offer. Car is located in Austin, TX
