Unlocked DME... jb4 with backend flash or MHD?
Hey guys. I have a 2013 e92 335i n55 FBO 6mt with a JB4.
For the longest time, i was trying to find a shop to unlock my DME. After searching forever, i finally one... My next question is should i get the full blown MHD flash? My following questions are: If so, do i go stage 2+ but 93 only? I like to run e85 (and therefore the flexibility of jb4) but i don't like to daily on e85 as i drive 35 miles each way for work. Do i also need to "unlock" my computer everytime an update for MHD comes out? Will unlocking my DME destroy anything in the long run? Is the backend flash and jb4 together any good? I've also heard how people run into issues when stacking MHD and jb4. Thanks in advance!

MHD updates to not require another unlock, nor does changing your map. Pick a concentration of E85 you like and get a tune for that concentration. You can flash at the pump to which ever tune you want to run. People that have issues with the BEF I have heard were primary them trying to flash the DME while the JB4 is connected. The JB4 isn't great but the BEF make it better.

Sounds like you answered your own question. The run the pump BEF until your ethanol mixture is E40 or higher.

Ethanol itself will not give you more power. What it gives you is the ability to run more boost and or timing without running into knock. The reason E30 is such a popular mixture for this platform is because it still provides good knock suppression without being overly taxing on your fuel system. If you're wanting to run full E85 then you will need an upgraded LPFP and an upgraded HPFP. You could add one gallon of E85 to your full tank and run the stage 2 +. This would ensure that you have no timing corrections and give you the most power while using that tune. We have the same HPFP and I found that the fuel system started to crash around 17 psi, using the stock flash fuel tables, when I was running E25.

So you're saying use the BEF and keep my JB4?
