Yeah because as soon as no more maps get produced, all roads cease to exist...POI's vanish, and you sink into a black hole without new maps.

you realize you'd probably only be missing like...50 roads across the entire US.... right?

My dealer updated my Nav with the 2010 update. However, they had lots of problems and took three days, finally with the BMW rep downloading from his computer. Now my version reads 2010.

Do you see any new features either in Nav or the the iDrive itself?

There are a few around here, particularly the 355 extension (a pretty big deal), which should have been out on last year's maps. I only bought the 2009 version because it should have been on there, but it wasn't. Hopefully it will be this year.

Hello Everyone..... Another Noobie here. Just purchased my 08 e90 335i last week. My first BMW.

This is my first post on these boards even though I have been reading them for months now (Thanks to everyone for the great info during my research!).

I purchased my 335 from a Toyota dealership and it did not have the Nav DVD in it so of courese I was excited to hear there was a brand new updated disk that just came out last week. I ordered it on Monday (3/15) and it should be here soon so I can actually use my Nav.

I did do a search online for Navteq vs. Tele Atlas and it appears that Navteq has a superior reputation for their U.S. Maps over Tele Atlas. This bums me out a bit that BMW would go with an inferior product more or less I am guessing to save money.

Superior "reputation" does not mean superior "product." We also have no idea if the switch is saving BMW money. Personally, I doubt it.

Even if you have the physical DVD you still have to pay for the FSC enabling codes at the dealer to load them into the HDD.

If I am not wrong, sbux drives an 06 330i that doesn't use a hard drive like most others here who have the pre-2009 models. For those with the non-hard drive models, the drill has always been - pop the updated disc into the DVD drive, shut down system for 5 minutes (in most cases) and voila! No stealer BS!

You are correct, my post was more towards those with 2009-on whom can be "confused" with copies of the 2010 DVD.

Perhaps that's true but for us folk that have the DVD (non HDD) version, a torrent would rock!
